No iCloud on Snow Leopard? THIS IS A JOKE, APPLE!

Right now I'm thinking about leaving Apple products behind for good. So I can't use iCloud on Snow Leopard (which is not that old)? Meaning my syncing (contacts, bookmarks, calendars etc.) will just stop when they shut down MobileMe in 2012?

GREAT WAY TO DEAL WITH YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS, APPLE!

I can't update to Lion (various reasons). So now what? Dump the crap Macbook+iMac+iPhone in the toilet? Should be a great idea!

VERY PROFESSIONAL, CONGRATULATIONS!

What I am trying to do is come up with a solution that would enable me to delete or initiate an email and it would make the changes across all devices. iMac (SL), iPhone, iPad. I think I may be having a case of tunnel vision? lol

I can't seem to connect with the way to do this ... is it even possible?

Totally possible if your email account supports iMap, just add the account to all devices using iMap (do not use POP) and it will be the same on your iPhone, your Mac and whatever else you attach to the account.

You're right, Verizon is POP only which leads to the question, why are you using such a limited, limiting system, what will you do when you want to change internet providers?

There are many free iMap systems out there, you could (for instance) get a .me address (ICloud) and all your Apple devices will (or can be made to) work with it in the fashion you want. If you don't want a .me address there are many alternatives (Gmail etc) but iCloud will not work fully without a .me address.

Don't let your ISP tie you to their service by offering a crummy but convenient email system as the hook.

Lion is $30 or all of your Macs, iCloud is free. I fail to see the problem here, dude. 😕

Maybe their Mac can't run Lion or maybe it can and they can't loose Rosetta due to software.

You mean lose Rosetta, young Jedi.

If you're still using Rosetta, then don't upgrade. No-one has a gun to your head to use something that is otherwise free.

The other consideration is that Apple hasn't made PowerPC Macs for several years now....

Are you the overlord of grammar now?

Doesn't matter how long it has been since PowerPC machines have bene made. Lots of drivers, plug-ins and apps have not been rewritten for Intel.

The problem is that Apple is removing a solution that works whilst replacing it with something that doesn't fit a lot of its customers needs.

Ok thank you!

I was able to set up the @me.com to do what you mentioned. I have them all in sync.

Question, how do I get the extension to say @verizon.net, instead of@me.com when sending an email?

The reason I use the limited system is out of habit.

Thanks again for your help.

You can not send from .me and have the email show a @verizon.net address, you are using a different email now, if you want to continue using verizon you will have to add the account to Outlook (if not already added) and send with it.
