Problems with IOS 5 Music App

There are several problems with IOS5 Music app that I noticed, (These problems were not present in previous IOS)

1. Slower loading for songs with lyrics - There is a slight (1~1.5) second delay in bringing up new album art/lyrics/etc when switching songs. The way it delays feels very unstable like the app is about to crash.

2. Graphical glitch when loading some songs with lyrics - The area between the section with the progress bar/repeat/shuffle button is and the section with the lyrics become screwed up, the album art and overlay effect in that area become distorted. This goes off when lyrics is turned off by tapping on the screen then bringing it back up. However the problem persists when track is changed.

3. Unnatural scrolling of lyrics - Scrolling lyrics (especailly when I do it fast) feels buggy.

4. CRASHES with some Apple Lossless tracks that causes the springboard to respring - the app crashes with some Apple Lossless tracks. I do not know what is causing the crash. The file is fully tagged with lyrics/albumart. It seems to load and then it lags then crashes. The track played fine in previous versions (4.1 and 4.3.5). I can assure you that there is nothing wrong with the file.

5. Apple Lossless tracks very slow to load - Those tracks are just generally slower when loading and the problem with lyrics gets even more severe if the track is Apple Lossless.

*Most of those problems occur in greater severity for Apple Lossless than mp3 files.

Very unhappy about this update at the moment. What's the point of adding all new features if it cant handle the very crucial component...

iPod touch, IOS 5.

I am having this problem too. Soundtracks, compilations. When I click on an artist who has one album, plus songs on a compilation, it takes me through to his album. Anyone have any solutions to this?

As ever album artwork is major glitch but am currently re-syncing music wirelessly and my hope is this will be less temperamental...wishful thinking, maybe!

Have tried resyncing/recovery everything but was unable to fix any of those issues.

(it reduces the severity if you reduce sizes of ur album arts... if you can bother... u have to take out pictures from Tags and resize then re-tag ur music files.... which is great...)

I at least hope they can fix the list of items not matching up with the alphabetical short-cuts. For me this is major issue because I have 55GB of Korean + english songs and now english items come on top of korean items while korean shortcuts come on top of english shortcuts. If you know what i mean lol... I have to scroll through hundreds of items to find a single track I want to listen to...

Installing iOS5 was very difficult and messy but I got there. One problem i'm having with the Music App is that when I go to open my main playlist (containing about 40Gb of music) it takes around 20 seconds to go to the list of songs. Pre-iOS5 it was instamtaneous. With other playlists of maybe 4 Gb it's instantaneous. Even if I open the App with that playlist already open it takes around 20 seconds before it's useable, i.e. it's frozen for around 20 seconds.

Like I say it worked fine before so there is some problem with the new OS.

Similar problem here. I upgraded my iphone 4 to iOS 5 yesterday.

Itunes said that almost all of what used to be free memory was now occupied as "other" but I didn't pay any attention to it.

Today on a flight from Brussels to the US, I found out that half of my music won't play. It simply doesn't start the song or it skips to the next one, There is no difference between downloaded songs and CD's I ripped myself. Since I won't be home for another week I can't try to fix the problem by deleting and reloading all my music onto the iPhone.

This is freaking ridiculous. While googling I found out that the problem with the new music app has been known for months yet Apple didn't solve it in the official iOS 5 release.

Do I need to go back to my old iPod and carry two devices around?

Before I completely swicthed to Apple a few months ago, I thought Apple was so much better than Microsoft. I now know better.

Shame on you Apple !!!! The iPod made you big, now you can't even play music on the iphone 4.

After downloading IOS5 and syncing my phone with Itunes, I am now experiencing problems. The name of the album appearing as the name of the artist on multiple different songs. Is anybody else experiencing this problem?? It is very frustrating when trying to listen to music because I can't use the Artists tab because it lies to me. I have tried deleting the music off my phone and putting it back on and nothing will work. Any other suggestions?

I'm having some odd issues as well. My music loads fine and plays fine through the ipod touch speaker. When I plug in headphones though the quality goes to crap and I have no idea why. I've tried reseting, restoring, playing with the volume, switching out headphones and nothing has worked. Does anyone have any idea how to get my music working again?

I've found the origin of my tagging problem. Apparently, in iOS 5, any changes applied to tracks already transferred to iPod Touch or iPad aren't recognised by the Music app, even if they show up normally in iTunes. So I have to apply all the wanted changes before transferring tracks to iPod Touch. This never happened before. Anyone else experiencing this?
