Problems with IOS 5 Music App

There are several problems with IOS5 Music app that I noticed, (These problems were not present in previous IOS)

1. Slower loading for songs with lyrics - There is a slight (1~1.5) second delay in bringing up new album art/lyrics/etc when switching songs. The way it delays feels very unstable like the app is about to crash.

2. Graphical glitch when loading some songs with lyrics - The area between the section with the progress bar/repeat/shuffle button is and the section with the lyrics become screwed up, the album art and overlay effect in that area become distorted. This goes off when lyrics is turned off by tapping on the screen then bringing it back up. However the problem persists when track is changed.

3. Unnatural scrolling of lyrics - Scrolling lyrics (especailly when I do it fast) feels buggy.

4. CRASHES with some Apple Lossless tracks that causes the springboard to respring - the app crashes with some Apple Lossless tracks. I do not know what is causing the crash. The file is fully tagged with lyrics/albumart. It seems to load and then it lags then crashes. The track played fine in previous versions (4.1 and 4.3.5). I can assure you that there is nothing wrong with the file.

5. Apple Lossless tracks very slow to load - Those tracks are just generally slower when loading and the problem with lyrics gets even more severe if the track is Apple Lossless.

*Most of those problems occur in greater severity for Apple Lossless than mp3 files.

Very unhappy about this update at the moment. What's the point of adding all new features if it cant handle the very crucial component...

iPod touch, IOS 5.

My problem is that the Music app is very slow on my iPhone 4 since iOS5. Sometimes I see only a black/white screen for like 15 sec (or it crashes) when I launch it the first time, and when I open my "Favorite tracks" smart playlist (1004 tracks) it takes another 10-15 sec to open it every time I want to open it after I come back to the Music app. This problem (smart playlist) started when I enabled "Limit to '1500' tracks selected by 'most often played' " because without this the playlist was "upside down" (since the iOS5 update). I have synced a copy of the playlist on my iPhone without this option on and I have no problem with this playlist. Really horrible music app in iOS5 compared to iOS4 if you ask me. Almost feels like the music app from my iPod touch running iOS 3.1.3.

I've just downloaded the update, the features are good, especially the camera features 🙂

But when i went to my music, i found that loads of my artists were either not showing up, got a different name, made two artists out of themselves (ie.'[dweeb]' thats what i've always had for this band, now there's two. One says '[dweeb]' but there's now another called 'Dweeb' 😟, which i particularly dont like as I like all my artists in one place). I'll be very pleased when this problem is sorted and 'ASAP please Apple' :/

I had the same problem with some of the artwork missing from the Music App on my iPad initially until I deleted all of the music off of my iPad and then did a re-sync. It's all there now. I also know of a couple of folks that had to wipe and re-sync their music a couple or three times to get everything working right. What a pain, but at least it's working now.

I've also read that cover art over a certain size (can't recall if it's 500 x 500 or 1000 x 1000 pixels) can cause serious problems. Once folks remove those things seemed to work normally.

Resetting the iPad (hold home and sleep/wake buttons together for a full ten seconds...until the Apple logo appears) got my Music App to respond normally as well.

Best of luck!
