iCloud MobileMe IMAP rejected password

Greetings,


After moving my MobileMe account to iCloud, I am now getting an error message in mail that states:


The MobileMe IMAP server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user “xxxxxxx”


It keeps popping up a window asking me to enter my me.com password, but won't accept my password.


I googled this error and see a bunch of threads here and other places about problems with IMAP passwords and this same error message back in 2008/2009. But I've never seen this error before, and since it happed just after the transition to iCloud, I suspect it is realted.


Any suggestions?

I'm having the same issue. I've always had trouble with my password particularly with iPhoto trying to send mails.


I now can't log into the iCloud mail via the browser, can't authenticate in Mail on Mac OS X 10.7.2 and it is driving me nuts.


I've already spent bloody hours with this iOS5 'upgrade' and migration to iCloud.


Youd' think Apple might respect it's loyal base a bit more, you know, the one's who actually paid for a service like mobileme.

Last night, was able to login to iCloud web and access email.


This morning, I get an error when trying to login to iCloud web.

I am also getting a different error this morning in the Mail client:

"There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “iCloud” or try again.

The server returned the error: The attempt to read data from the server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” failed."


I am still able to view my mac.com/me.com email on my iPhone and iPad.


So this looks to me like server problems with the new implementation/transition. Not sure there is much we can do but wait... but I will try to call Apple Support later today.

Apple might *think* they've fixed it, but it is not fixed.


Having the issue on my iMac. It will work for a bit, then start rejecting the password.


If I go to iCloud via the web, and use the same password, right in every time.


I suspect Apple has multiple authentication servers, and one of them is borked. So you might go a while hitting good servers and getting in, then eventually you snag the bad one and get the rejection loop.
