iCloud MobileMe IMAP rejected password

Greetings,

After moving my MobileMe account to iCloud, I am now getting an error message in mail that states:

The MobileMe IMAP server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user “xxxxxxx”

It keeps popping up a window asking me to enter my me.com password, but won't accept my password.

I googled this error and see a bunch of threads here and other places about problems with IMAP passwords and this same error message back in 2008/2009. But I've never seen this error before, and since it happed just after the transition to iCloud, I suspect it is realted.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

It's an IMAP TCP Socket issue which is causing the repeat authentication problems. If your listening Apple, give me a job and I'll fix it, as this issue has been ongoing since this morning (UK AM) and it's not really good enough.

Migration, new email acount creations aside the extra load and traffic levels should have been forecasted, with a backup plan in-case you need more storage or IMAP access.

Not being prepared is not really good enough. Poor Mr Jobs must be turning in his grave.

Me too! All was working and now no mail. I'm sure it is a bug or "growing pains" but come on you get users to buy multiple devices (desktop, laptop, ipad, iphone) and you want them to sync but you are not prepared for the load. I guess in theory they are all in sync...showing the same error.

iCloud is rejecting password in my email on my iMac, iPhone and iPad.

Apple, please respond...silence is not customer service.

Same here, mail was working on all devices but now:

- rejecting incoming mail password on macbook and iPhone:

"The iCloud IMAP server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user “xxxxxxxxxxx” "

- also icloud.com fails to launch mail after authentication, reload modal message appears but fails to fix anything.

- Outgoing mail still working on the macbook

- Incoming seems to work on ipad

Same here - thought I'd try Apples new shiny telephone support - explained the problem re iCloud mail on a form - got a call back instantly from some guy in Portugal who proceeded to tell me there was nothing wrong and that he knew nothing about iCloud as he was an iPad speciallist. He then went on to say that just because a few dozen people complained on forums there are millions of users not complaining so what was my problem. Just glad I held off updating the other halves account - she'd be really miffed. For a minute there I really thought Apple had upped their game on support. 😟
