iCloud MobileMe IMAP rejected password

Greetings,


After moving my MobileMe account to iCloud, I am now getting an error message in mail that states:


The MobileMe IMAP server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user “xxxxxxx”


It keeps popping up a window asking me to enter my me.com password, but won't accept my password.


I googled this error and see a bunch of threads here and other places about problems with IMAP passwords and this same error message back in 2008/2009. But I've never seen this error before, and since it happed just after the transition to iCloud, I suspect it is realted.


Any suggestions?

I am also having this trouble. First just on my Mac, then on my iPhone and now also on iCloud.com.


I believe from everything I've been reading that it is a server/DNS issue on Apple's side and there's nothing we can do other than wait.


There is also this on the iCloud system status page that looks like it's the same thing, although there isn't much information to go on. And it says intermittent slowness - seems like it's more than slowness. Almost seems as though it's a different error. Clearly, though, many of us are affected around the world.

So as annoying as it is, we just have to wait. And wouldn't this be a great time for Apple to give us a better updateon what's going on. But we'll save that for another thread.

I upgraded our two Airs, two iPhones and two Pad 2's last night. The first upgrade went smoothly (aside from one of the iPhones getting temporarily bricked). The second Air upgrade immeditaley started getting rejected passwords in Mail app, while the first Air and all upgraded mobile devices operated normally.


The problem has degraded from there. Now all mobile devices, web client for both accounts, and mail apps on both Airs have issue of rejected password. And there is not even a glimmer of hope.


Annoying doesn't even begin to describe it. It's a brave new Apple world.
