iCloud MobileMe IMAP rejected password

Greetings,

After moving my MobileMe account to iCloud, I am now getting an error message in mail that states:

The MobileMe IMAP server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user “xxxxxxx”

It keeps popping up a window asking me to enter my me.com password, but won't accept my password.

I googled this error and see a bunch of threads here and other places about problems with IMAP passwords and this same error message back in 2008/2009. But I've never seen this error before, and since it happed just after the transition to iCloud, I suspect it is realted.

Any suggestions?

I have the same problem - my password is being rejected on my iPad, iPhone, and my Mail app on my MacBook.

Apple, get on the stick. People will be tolerant if given information about this, less so if left in the dark as is now the case.

I am having the very same issues as all of you. Did get the "welcome to iCloud email" and now I cannot get any of my macmail on any of my devices, MacBook Pro, iPad2, or iPhone 4 all of which have the latest OS and iOS. This is not "slowness", it is some kind of a failure; since I am not a techie I have no idea what could be going on but have to think Apple must be aware and working hard to solve the problem.

This is happing to me even after it was working last night around 2300 hours (EST). Now I can't even log into the Mail portion of the iCloud web Mail account! This is a major outage and this is becoming worse than the Mobile Me that had all the problems! 😠

iPhone is showing the exact same message as Backdoc's screen picture.

I'd show you a screenshot but I haven't figured out how to get a picture from photostream to the finder (a folder etc.) to upload to an image to a hosting site eg. Photobucket

More to the point how to save a photostream image to the finder?

UPDATE: My iPhone4 (os5) just connected to mail and downloaded about 40 emails at once. My MBP (Lion 10.7.2) still cannot connect via Mail. ICloud.com mail is letting me in, but blank with spinning gear thing... Progress I guess...

DITTO - p99-imap.mail.me.com is listed as the INCOMING mail server - it is GREYED OUT so that id can not be changed. It makes no difference if I specify @mac.com @me.com or just my root icloud/mobileme/Apple ID.

Similarly the web interface www.icloud.com is in a death march. SAME STORY for my wife's account.

GMAIL is working AOK - This really is another BlackBerry story, so much for capitalizing on Apple QOS.

whoops, should have qualified my earlier post, I got mail on my iPad2 and my iPhone, still that annoying message on the MacBook Pro but just now all seem to be working. I think this will resolve with "tincture of time"; at least I sure hope so!

Everything just came back online for me... Mail and iOS devices are not receiving Mail again from iCloud!
