iCloud MobileMe IMAP rejected password

Greetings,

After moving my MobileMe account to iCloud, I am now getting an error message in mail that states:

The MobileMe IMAP server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user “xxxxxxx”

It keeps popping up a window asking me to enter my me.com password, but won't accept my password.

I googled this error and see a bunch of threads here and other places about problems with IMAP passwords and this same error message back in 2008/2009. But I've never seen this error before, and since it happed just after the transition to iCloud, I suspect it is realted.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Lucky for Apple Steve isn't here for if he was there would be some heads rolling for all these issues. Not a very smart rollout at all. It's a no brainer your servers will be over loaded. You have millions of people updating their iPhones, iPads, iPod Touches, AppleTVs, iTunes, and computers on top of setting up iCloud accounts or transfering their MobileMe account to iCloud. Not to mention the people making purchases throught the App Store and iTunes Store. Also, many of these people like myself have multiple apple products. Just wait until Friday when millions of people, including myself, with a new iPhone 4S wants to update their new phone. I'm afraid these errors will keep accurring throughout the weekend until the dust settles from the stampede. So, the solution is just to wait and have patience. Overloaded servers is out of our control and I'm sure Apple is scrabbling to meet the demand.

Alright, as of now I am able to login from all devices and iCloud.com site. However, things are VERY slow and I have a feeling they will continue to be for a while... Those of you with Mac Mail app issues, double check your login setup. My apple id was listed with just the id part and not with "@me.com" as soon as I added the "@me.com" I was instantly in.

Oddly...the KB article indicates that the incoming server should be imap.x.x.x not 99-imap.x.x.x

Anyone have an idea why that is?

The field does not appear editable...so...no way to try a fix there. That said, if everyone else has that 99-imap server...it's likely to be the "right" one that happens to just not work

I'm sure that imap.x.x.x is a round robin that points to a whole server farm. 99-imap.x.x.x seems to be one of those servers. My guess is that only those of us who have happened to land on this particular server, have problems. Or, the round robin doesn't work and all users land on this particular server which then fails under the load.

This is irritating. I use this for my business. Apple saying that they know of the issue doesn't help anything. If they weren't ready to give all these yahoos an @me.com account then don't do it. I paid for MobileMe, previously .Mac, since 2007 with no issues. No they make it free for everyone and stuff hits the fan.

Let everyone go back to their applefan12@yahoo and moonlover@comcast email accounts and let us who actually need this stuff and are willing to pay to get their services back.

I think that may have been a happy accident. If it remains stable, let us know. But it did not solve my issues and when spoke with an Apple CSR, they said it was supposed to be "just the id portion" e.g., Justinbby NOT Justinbby@me.com

..for what it's worth...

Anyway...please keep community in the loop...

I have had same problem all day on 3 apple products connected to my former mobile me account.

Just off the phone with Apple technical support and it is an issue they know about it...server swamped...duh...how do they dare to say that did not expect that much trafic, don't they know how many products they sold???

I start to doubt Apple future now that Steve is gone...
