Notification Center not working on iOS5

Hi,

Notification center is not working on my iPhone 4. I tried turning it on and off several time but it still does not work. The only notifications that do work are Weather, Stocks and Calendar. All other notifications are not working. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this?

I think I have found my problem. I thought Twitter Notifications would come with a Twitter icon (push from twitter) in my notification center. But it seem that when I ask for a notificatoin from someone I follow in the Twitter app profile menu, Twitter just sends me a text message.

This mean that all my Twitter notifiaction come to me with the same notification setting as a text message. I was hoping that I could have different set for text messages and twitter notification. Say have sound on for text and sound off twitters. I got to say I am really dissapointed.

Am I missing something here because I do not understant the point of having Twitter in the notifiactions setting menu?!!!

I found the answer to my own question. 😊 Why Twitter is in the notifiaction setting menu?

Got this from the Twitter support site:

Notifications

Want to be notified when a user mentions, replies to, or DMs you?

  1. To set push notifications for your account, go to the app's Settings, and then select Notifications.
  2. You will see the option to set notifications for all mentions, or just from accounts you follow, and for Direct Messages.

So this means (if I understand it right) that Twitter only sends you Notifications of tweets that mentions you or tweets sent directly to you. If you want to see live tweets from people you follow sent to your notification center (without going to and updating the twitter app) they will come to you as a text message. That kinda suck!! (see post above)

I don't know about you but I do not get many mentions on twitter. 😟

One more thing (off topic) I would have like to see weather on the lock sceen.

I'm seeing all the problems listed here. I think the problem happens when iOS5 is upgraded from iOS4.xx in iPhone 4. Maybe new iPhone users do not see the problem.

Apple needs to test and fix it, not providing a weird workaround solution. The problems I'm seeing are

1. Nothing show up in Lock screen, with "View in Lock Screen" On in Notification Center

2. The order of apps in Notification center never saved

3. To me, after unlock and drag down from the top, Only calendar and Stock are shown in Notification center. Not mail, Nor 3rd party apps.

4. It may not be related with Notification center, but iOS5 in general. To me, All accounts in Mail show only one account and dummy message from another account. If I click each account, it shows correct incoming mails. But the problem happens when I'd like to see combined accounts.

I was excited with Notification center mostly, but very disappointed at these bugs..

no I have a new iphone 4s -- set up as new phone. I don't get twitter or facebook messages. I do get email, calendar, reminders, beehive, imessage...I also its different on my ipad than with my iphone, which leads me to believe its the individual apps for each one....for instance, i get notified from USA today on my ipad but not iphone. It also doesn't necessarily show up in notifications. I think there are inconsistencies that will need to be worked out. It is probably a combination of different devices, different apps and different settings....rebooting and re-installing doesn't fix it.

I managed to fix the app alerts/notifications not showing up in Notification Center (for me it was all of them bar the Weather widget), by manually going through each app in the Notification Center menu and turning each one's Notification Center settings to Off so it wouldn't appear. Once I had turned them all off, I then turned them back on and it worked again 🙂

Facebook and Twitter were showing up fine in Notification Center...until a few days ago when suddenly all non-Apple apps stopped showing up and now only Mail, Weather etc. are displaying notifications. I didn't install any new apps or anything. At first I thiught it might have someting to do with Facebook's new format but that doesn't explain Twitter not showing up. Will try the turn off and turn on again fix and report back.
