Mine too. it took forever to backup and update my ipod touch 4g to the new ios 5. But everything seems sluggish after that. The touch screen experience seems to be a bit jittery and there are noticeable pauses when loading apps. Is this just my ipod or is ios5 just not up to the mark?

Everybody here says "buy this, buy that..." or "the iPod 5 is going to be better... as it was the solution (NO!)

*Not everybody has enough money to buy a new gadget each month/year!* or for replacing a malfuncionning iPod thanks to Apple's iOS changes.

$ 150 IS money, money I don't want to spill trying to find the "ideal" gadget.

For me it's simple: It works or not.

I don't live in US and I pay over 400 dollars for my ipod 4g 32gb... (and I don't want to know how much I pay for the rest of my apple stuffs...) It's disrespectful... i use to use this device to work and organize my stuffs and one they it become a bad and expensive toy... (not even a good mp3 player?) If its a memory problem apple should recall ALL the ipod 4g and replace them with a correct hardware. This is the 4th and 5th version of a proven product... i didn't buy this to be a beta tester... the worst is that I want 4 times already to try to get a solution to an apple store and they suggest stupid things and react as if is the first time they heard about it... I don't belive the 5.1 version of ios will fix anything... hope so though...

Just discovered that I am not the only one having problems with iOS5 on iPod 4G. Since the first inital upgrade to 5.0 and also after the last update to 5.0.1. it is soooo slow. From lock to unlock it takes 4 seconds, applications freeze wwhile they start, sweeping is sluggy ....

I used to be an iPod enthousiast, liked its responsiveness, until iOs 5 came. Now I do not want to use it anymore, it annoys me.

I did not try the backup/restore procedure, though. Would it really help ?

I also got problems with another Apple product: Lion (MacOS 10.7). I run Leopard (10.5) on two machines and recently bought an second hand iMac (from end 2009) with 10.7. What an unpleasant experience: 10.5 and 10.7 machine often cannot see each other, the time Machine (1st gen) with attached printer is not reachable most of the time, windows restore after reboot although I uncheckd the tick-box, I can't get rid of the start sound unless putting a cinch into the headphone jack, mailapp does not have a trash can anymore, ...

What happened to Apple ? They used to be so user friendly, easy to use, no installation hassles, ...

Sorry, had to let out my frustration ...

same here, got my ipod touch 4g white cos i thought that's the newest one.

*****... should have picked up the black one instead.

fresh out of the box iOS for ipod touch white is iOS5, the very first start of slowness saga.

i have noticed the slowness, and yet, i even updated it to iOS 5.0.1, thinking it will solve it. it makes it even worse.

called apple centre to ask about it, all they could tell me is "sir, we understand and acknowledge your problem very well, and there are alot of people who are experiencing this problem too"

i was sooo ****** off and ask them straight, "and YET you sell this junk? if it was because of the update, i don't mind, it can be solved with future update, IF there are any. but this is has been so slow since i opened it OUT OF THE BOX! so you are saying i should have bought the black one? then what's the point selling the white one? don't get me wrong, but it seems that Apple just put everything together without testing it before releasing to the public? what are they thinking?"

the reply i got was so short: "sir, im sorry for any inconvenience, but its best if you can wait for the latest update."

goddammit... felt like really cheated by this brand.

really, tell me guys, whats the point buying the white one? they entice us just by its colour, but the inside is total crap.

Feb 16, 2012 11:48 PM in response to sand1990

Color has nothing to do with it. Both the black and the white iPod touch have the exact same specs and problems (my iPod touch is black, and I am still having problems). There is no difference between the two, and buyin the other color would not have made it any better. The best we can do is wait for apple to release the update already
