Mine too. it took forever to backup and update my ipod touch 4g to the new ios 5. But everything seems sluggish after that. The touch screen experience seems to be a bit jittery and there are noticeable pauses when loading apps. Is this just my ipod or is ios5 just not up to the mark?

no did you get what i meant?

the black one is still running iOS4 out of the box (there are still chance to get the old version as apple shop is pushing all the old stocks of ipod touch 4 when it first came out), however, there are some black colour which already have iOS5 out of the box, especially those new batch which were released together with white colour.

but for white colour, all of them has iOS5 out of the box.

if i was to have an iOS4, i dare not update it until iOS5.1.X come out, that way, can enjoy it to the fullest.

so why should people buy the white one then? other than the colour. ipod touch should be functioning well, doesnt matter what colour it is.

I must share this as I am really annoyed by that. I received an E-Mail from apple:

Dear Michael,

Your post, "Re: ios 5 make my ipod 4g slow," was removed from the forums because it alludes to jailbreaking and violates Apple's End User License Agreement (http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/iphone.pdf).

As this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3743 mentions, these activities have been a source of instability and other issues. This article may help with restoring :http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

Why am I dissapointed? I will tell you... I bought a product which obviously has software errors. I am sharing these errors in this forum hoping that someone at apple cares. And what do the people from apple do? They just scan the forum for jailbreak activities and assume that jailbreaking

(has) been a source of instability and other issues.

You know what? I think you are doing the wrong thing! Search for software errors and don´t annoy customers. Just tell me that I should not "allude" to jailbreaking that would be perfectly fine with me. (It is not allowed in this forum and I am sorry.) But to claim that your software is a kick *** product and that the instability is a failure of me as a customer is just ... I am speachless. There is no comment from apple upon a single user post here, this is just too sad. I used to buy apple products because they work. The Ipod Touch 4G doesn´t....

Furthermore I must say that I used a lot of modal verbs in my original post I didn´t tell or advised no one to jailbreak their device to fix software errors of IOS 5.0.1. There are errors the Ipod is just not strong enough to handle IOS 5. Apple doesn´t allow us to go back to IOS 4... Sounds stupid to me.

Another thing:

A man I am working for has an Iphone 3GS and he asked me to upgrade it to IOS5. It is a simlock free Iphone. Gues what? It is a piece of crap now. Ios 5 locked the device and Itunes refuses to unlock it. I even unlocked it again via www.telekom.de (and the IMEI of the device). Your products stopped working with IOS5. I own an Ipod, an Ipad1, Ipad2, MBP 2011 and an apple TV. I won´t buy an Ipad 3, I won´t buy an Iphone 6, 10 or 20... unless you fix the issues.

I really hoped to help people with my original post but as I am not allowed to do so I won´t. It is true what people told me when I started to like apple. You just don´t seem to care about "old" products, you don´t accept feedback and you choose what we read and what we don´t read. I am done with restrictions, goodbye apple, goodbye censorship. **** you once were "good buy´s"

lol second that! the problem with apple is that they do not dare to offer any solution to this widespread problem, but instead they kept nitpicking about people posting a real SOLUTION to the problem. (which involves jailbreaking)

guess what apple, if your software so kickass, please dont mind me saying that those people who kept building useful tweaks are more clever than your lazy technicians. these people do not get anything in return and yet they still worked so hard to solve this widespread problem, although some of these tweaks dont work, at least they tried.

your techinicians? just sit idly and dig their nose while getting thousand bucks salary. might as well don't introduce ios5 to ipod touch! **** i dont mind with ios4, i dont mind at all, it doesnt matter if i cant open few apps which are designed for ios5, as long as i can browse my music with breeze. it lags and it lost the purpose of owning ipod touch, doesnt it?

Wow! ok... I just installed the iOS 5.1 and I wanted to post my experience till now (30mins...)

I installed... things where slugish for a couple of seconds... and then... surprise! is not perfect... you can notice a little bit of slugginesh 🙂 but hey! looks fantastic till now! I even can listen music and scroll thru the thumbs of my library without loosing the sound! 🙂 and everything is turned on... I will keep testing it but maybe someone hear us this time... if so I will sum the iPad HD to my collection 🙂

Hi!

look I'm trying it since yesterday... usually I have about 6-10 LowMemory logs on Diagnostics & Usage and since I install this I don't have anymore...

It's not perfect... time to time you can see a slugish behiavor, mostly on scrolling... in apps like facebook or pulse... (or a long email...)

But in general there is a performace bost... I didn't make a clean install... I will as soon as I have some time...

So I think it is worth it to give it a try... I'm surpraise that there is no lag when I unlock the screen 🙂 and before I coudn't listen a song and scroll fluently thru the covers... now I can... I start to use it more and more due to this... I will give it a ride for a couple of more days.

I just recently purchased a iPod Touch 32GB White version from the Apple Store at my local mall. It came with version 5.0.1 of iOS preinstalled. I synced all my data, 3.19 GB of music, 136 Apps, and some books. All features turned on as well. (iCloud, Location, BT and etc.) And I haven't had trouble out of it at all. The only thing I could notice was the notification center. On first use when it asked me permission to use my location, it lagged for about 0.5 seconds. After that it was as smooth as ever.

Not sure why you guys are having so many issues.

Btw, is 5.1 still in Beta?

Well... a couple of hours later everything is like before... I got 5 lowmemory logs... I have to close open apps to recovery speed... (facebook, pulse, mail and safari... I don't use much more than that...)

It became sluggish since I press the home button... I took like a second to show me the slide to unlock... then 2 second to open up in a break up animation of icons... scrolling thru the board is slow too and the first slide respond in more than a second... closing some apps recovers a little but I don't feel it as fluid as I feel it at the begining anymore... As a lot of people wrote before I guess this is a memory management problem (this ipod cannot handle it at all...)

Guess is time to figure out what actions to take... I feel cheat in almost every apple product I bought latelly. Shipwrecked.soul hope your device doesn't start to suffer all this... i guess it will sooner or later...

Where do you find those memory logs ? I just installed 5.1 and everything went good for the last 2 hours. But now it's getting sluggish again. Not as bad as with 5.0.1 but I fear it will be getting worse.

Nicely done, apple, you want us to buy the brand new iPad 3 because we are fed up with our iPods ?
