Mine too. it took forever to backup and update my ipod touch 4g to the new ios 5. But everything seems sluggish after that. The touch screen experience seems to be a bit jittery and there are noticeable pauses when loading apps. Is this just my ipod or is ios5 just not up to the mark?

I compared Ipod touch 4 to our Ipad 2 - what a difference in speed !!!

Since the IOS 5.0 slowed the Ipod down so much and with no help from Apple (you guys with the hardware reset are kidding - asking to reinstall all this apps, because of a bad update ? ) I will replace it with one of the new upcoming cheap 7 inch Android tablets for 199.- to bring along in case it get stolen/broken/lost

and use the Ipad at home.

Gonna miss the old Ipod and sure Android is full of bugs, but at least it´s fast.

Also: Wouldn´t buy Ipod until the faster processor is in and the camera is at least 5MP.

I could be wrong, but I suspect that battery wearout, etc. are all related to IOS5 bugs. That has gotten national highlight in CNN. Apple engineers must be aware of these problems.

I just find it hard to believe that Apple released such a poor version of IOS5.

Since we cannot discuss jailbreaking in this forum, how about we discuss which new Samsung or Microsoft-based smartphone we can switch to?

Yes, I am quite annoyed with Apple's audacity right now -- in releasing the poor OS and then not releasing a fix even after numerous complaints, even on national tv.

I thought it was my imagination that my itouch is slow. I heard in the news all about the iphone but I feel quite left out by apple since they haven't come up with a solution to the problems with iOS5 for itouch 4. Hopefully there is a solution soon!! I don't want to downgrade since I like the icloud feature.

Yes, I have u/g my 8GB iPod Touch 4G to OS 5.0.1, and what an ordeal! MAKE A LIST OF ALL YOUR APPS BEFORE YOU DO THIS! Maybe it was the synch in iTunes afterward, I'm not realy sure. Something removed about 60 of my approximately 75 apps! Luckily, I found the list of my d/l apps at the App Store. From there, I was able to restore (d/l and re-install) each one, slowly, one-by-one. I hit a little cloud icon next to each app in the list to restore them. They were all free apps, so I'm not sure if I would have had to pay again for any paid apps. Probably so?! Once I installed things like the Kindle app and iBooks, it automatically restored the ebooks that I had in each one. Other apps' personal settings and data were fully restored. Maybe having iCloud enabled helped out with this restore? I did have to log into most all the apps and services all over again. What a hassle! As far as overall system speed. It seems to sometimes hesitate a bit at start-up after it's been sleeping, and also sometimes at the first use of an app. But it seems to catch up with itself rather quickly, so this really doesn't create a permanent issue. It's done this since it was brand new. No worse or better with the new OSs. As far as battery life, it sure seems to not be draining near as quickly as it was since the original IOS 5 upgrade, which was about 2 weeks ago. My first impression is that the OS u/g is worth it, but beware of mass app loss!

We aren't stupid. A lot of people are aware of closing the apps that way. iOS 5 is just too buggy to run on the iPod touch 4th Generation and it's laggy and slow for me even without having too many apps installed. There's no excuse for that. I returned my white iPod touch to Best Buy and going to buy one with iOS 4.3 from eBay. At least I'm paying money for a much faster device.
