Mine too. it took forever to backup and update my ipod touch 4g to the new ios 5. But everything seems sluggish after that. The touch screen experience seems to be a bit jittery and there are noticeable pauses when loading apps. Is this just my ipod or is ios5 just not up to the mark?

Hmm...I updated an iPad 2 and my iPod touch 4g, and I had a friend that updated an iPad 2 and an iPod touch 3G, and then mother friend that updated another iPad 2, and none of us lost any data. My iPod touch 4g has posts of speed issues and crashing problems since 5.0.1 though (it was fine on 5.0). My iPad has problems with large apps and safari crashing. Definitely upgrade when they fix these speed and crashing problems, but only upgrade now if you think you can live with that, but as long as you have enough room on your hard drive during the back up, and you DO NOT DISCONNECT it until it has finished loading everything (music and video is done last).

You guys shouldn't really waste your time complaining on here. Alot of people including myself tried by calling Apple and reporting this but the "Geniuses" would say that no one else reported that issue and they would tell us to back up then fresh restore and to return the device/take it to an apple store to fix it which was bullsh!t because that will never solve the issue since it's a software/memory issue that Apple need to fix. Anyway I went back and read what few other posters posted and so I returned the white iPod 4th Gen that I bought and went on eBay and messaged few buyers asking which iOS their black iPod 4th Gen was running and managed to buy a new one with 4.2.1 I've had it for more than a month and it's perfectly fast and responsive. At least I don't have to deal with the stupid laggyness or unresponsive screen when you try to unlock the device on iOS 5. You guys should consider doing what I did. 4.2.1 is much more stable and faster on the iPod 4th Gen than stupid iOS 5.

Before you try anything, do this:

1) Go to the menu

2) Double-press the home button on the iPod to pull up the background apps on the bottom.

3) Hold down one of the icons to make them shake.

4) Touch each '-' sign for each app, until they are all cleared.

After this the icons will come back over time, but it will not slow down.

If that does not work, also try to turn off location services to speed things up even more.
