I can't sign into iCloud via windows control panel

When I try to log in, I get an error message reading 'you can't sign in because of a server error'.

I'm no computer whizz and this has got me stumped. I've tried turning off firewall, closing all other programs and restarting the computer with no luck :-/

Any help appreciated,

Thanks, Lucy

I have just tried the re-install and fix of the mobileme control panel and it doesn't fix the problem for me. Neither is permitting a login from the Vista control panels.

The error response from me is a 'please try again later' where as from icloud it is the usual 'server error'.

It may be that the authentication servers are overloaded in both worlds given the heavy conversion and login load, the rapid increase of icloud users, the difficulting in testing performance issues that are likely to result and the general lack of design smoothness of the AppleID migration process which strongly implies that this complex cross team workflow received insufficient attention prior to the iPhone 4S launch.

We may have to wait several days. Potentially even beyound the Friday date given to one of the earlier commenters by the support center.

Crossing fingers and moving on to something else for 48 hours.

After not finding a good solution to this issue I decided on formatting my computer.

When I formatted my pc and installed everything iCloud Control Panel is. Ow working 100% without fail.

My thought is it's something in the registry causing these problems, the firewall is the culprit as the firewall doesn't ask to give permission for iCloud to connect.

The other option is to get the IP Address of the iCloud servers and enter these into the hosts file and rebooting and trying that.

I was going to format my pc anyway and it now works perfectly fine now

I fixed the problem last night, how?

I read the following a few times before, the problem was that I wasn't able to run it as administrator:

Windows 7

1) Click on Start

2) Type cmd and press enter

you will see a new window

3) type "netsh winsock reset"

4) restart the machine

So I did a search about administrator rights, and came up with following

Start- SEarch: cmd , now instead of pushing straight away enter, right click the search result ( cmd ) on top of the search window and run as administrator. Than the cmd comes up and run the above command/ restart the comp.

It especially works when you couldn't log into iTunes either.

My iCloud now works, I was able to set up photo stream etc etc

Hope this helps

Let me know

I just logged my computer on as Administrator and tested and it worked. log back on as a user and same problem, I tried resetting the permissions on the folder and running, icloud.exe from the program files folder didnt work. Tried running it in compatibility mode for windows 7 and all variants of vista, didnt work. Tried running the application as administrator didnt work.

I am beginning to suspect that it is a profile or registry related issue.

I am not a member of mobileme, but I did download the software on my home laptop. iCloud control panel works fine on my Work PC which incidentally does not have mobileme installed, so I thought maybe mobileme was the problem on my home laptop. So, I uninstalled both mobileme and ICloud and reinstalled iCloud but sitll it I can't login into iCloud CP. I am completely now out of ideas as I have tried everything. I got a senior Apple engineer calling me today to try and sort this out. Will keep you all informed.

I am another user affected by this issue.

When logging into iCloud from my laptop I recieve the message "You can't sign in becasue of a server error. iCloud status..."

Here is what I've tried and the information about my system

Windows 7 32bit

Current iTunes ver.

Never used Mobile Me

I've uninstalled/reinstalled.

I've turned off all firewalls and virus protection

I've tried on a two different networks (In case there was a firewall on one of them)

I've ran as administrator, and as not. (I am an adminstrator on my computer)

I've tested on another computer (with success!)

Since it worked on my home's desktop I know the issue is my laptop and some software on this laptop.

The desktop it worked on is running Vista, and may even be an older version of iTunes.

There must be some software that is blocking iCloud.

But what!?

Handy summary of where we are so far:

Some people get an error when they login. For some people, running a netsh command fixes that problem. For others, they still seem to have the problem.

Some people don't get an error and it continues to try and login- forever. (I'm in this boat). For some people, they need to log in to their mobileme control panel, migrate their account, and then try- it will likely work. For others, this isn't applicable or doesn't work. In my case, I had mobileme control panel installed previously, but never had an account and I can't get one now, so it doesn't work for me.

For other people, creating a new windows user account and trying from there works. This works for me, but isn't the best option as I'd have a lot of stuff to migrate across accounts if I had to move.

Hi everyone...

Ok...for everyone who have tried all the suggestions (& thank god we're all here 4 each other...unlike apple!) I'm not sure if one solution has gotten lost/burried in all the responses...as 2 not getting signed photo stream deleted if u r unable to wait 30 days 4 it 2 auto clear.

On Internet explorer...I'm still getting swirling arrows 4 a few minutes then the "can't delete photo stream d/t server error...try again later" issue.

But, what someone suggested a while ago works for me....try a DIFFERENT BROWSER! I installed safari on my Win 7 64-bit PC...logged in to iCloud.com...clicked my name at top right...clicked advanced...clear photo stream...and it actually clears it.

For many people's main problem of not getting signed into iCloud CP (iCCP for short) on ur PC! I hope apple provides a fix. Of u haven't tried a suggestion I posted while back that seemed to clear up my iCCP and all my inability to sync and backup to my computer issues. After an error MSG popped up, I had to go into control panel...administrative tools...Services and restart the bonjour service. After that, everything seriously worked 4 me. Prior I had uninstalled the Mobile Me CP cuz I couldn't sign in & wasn't sure if I ever created an account. Also tried the windsock reset thing in CMD.

Worth a try while we're all waiting for apple to hopefully create a fix?! I hope all these issues so many r having they r aware & will fix!

Issue SOLVED by Apple Tech.

Here was the steps that Apple gave me to solve this issue.

1) Does rebooting the computer resolve the issue? If yes, stop here.

2) Check to see if any of the following software is installed: CovenantEyes, PCTools Spyware Doctor, or Browser Defender. If yes, remove this software and reboot the computer; if the issue is resolved, stop here.

I did not have any of the above programs installed, but I did uninstall Spy Bot Search and Destroy. After the reboot this didn't solve the problem.

3) Open a command prompt as an administrator and enter: netsh winsock show catalog >C:\before.txt

4) Then enter: netsh winsock reset

5) Reboot the computer. Is the issue resolved?

The issue was solved after the rebot. So I am not sure if it was just a winsock reset, or a combination of the reset and removal of Spy Bot.

6) If steps 4 and 5 resolved the issue, please open the command prompt again and enter: netsh winsock show catalog >C:\after.txt

7) If the issue was not resolved by the steps above, please enter this command: netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

8) Reboot the computer. Is the issue resolved?

9) Please also inquire as to what AntiVirus, Firewall, Other security software the users knows is installed and report that here as well
