Undo iCloud and restore Outlook 2007 on my PC? How?

I enabled iCloud to sync my Outlook 2007 calendar and contacts. My contacts on my PC have now totally disappeared! This is horrible! I need to have them on my PC for the times that my WIFI is down. I also need to have my calendar back on my PC .

I don't want to use iCloud anymore.

How can I stop using iCloud and get Outlook on my PC to have my calender and contacts back?

My operating system on my iPhone is IOS 5 and ma using an iPhopne. The iPhone is my only Apple product.

iPhone 4, IOS 5

So, if I understand this correctly:

The ONLY way to get my Outlook, iPhone and iPad contacts and calendars to be all in sync, is to NOT use iCloud, and do a manual sync between my computer and iphone, AND my computer and iPad. i.e. sync both with my computer constantly, like I did BEFORE iCloud.... Correct?

Stop using Outlook, alternatives exist and work correctly, unlike Outlook.

Outlook works fine. Its the iCloud connection to it that doesn't work.

What alternatives exist that integrate with all the other applications on my computer?

emClient

Outlook works exceptionally well when used with Microsofts sync system (xchange) poorly with Apple's sync system (iCloud).

Why not use Exchange, Outlook was written for it.

I have multiple email accounts all working through Outlook.....7 to be exact - multiple business and personal use accounts. And you can't use Exchange with multiple accounts.

emClient only supports 2 unless I buy the pro version, and i saw no indication that it will sync with iCloud properly....does it?

It supports iCloud Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Tasks, correctly.

As for the price, it's a lot cheaper than Outlook, your choice not to spend $49 and for many the free version will work fine.

I have a PC and I downloaded Icloud for Outlook, I wish I didn't.

Lost my contacts, then I accidently closed ICloud while in my Contacts and now I find then again to reopen them.

I want to find find Icloud while in my contacts. Then save my contacts and remove Icloud.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Restore your backup.

I think you are right. Manual syncs - in so far as they are still possible these days - are infinitely preferable.

Narrow escape? Tell me about it! I am still shuddering from the trauma of "almost" losing all my contacts and calendar events from my Outlook 2010. There was no warning, no explanation. Yeah, I could see the .pst file was still there and eventually I twigged that contacts and calendars had been removed to separate folders for syncing with the i-cloud. Thank you to the kind person(s) who gave the info about signing out of i-cloud. It looks like everything is back where it was, including the categories for the contacts. But it was a close shave!

I recently bought an ipod touch. I am tempted by the new ipad-mini. [Apple undoubtedly make impressive devices.] Still getting my head round i-tunes, USB, everything. I just wanted to see if outlook data could find its way onto the Touch. Found a youtube clip recommending "simplest way is to use cloud".Much against my better judgement, I suppose, I was tempted. Since reading posts on this thread I realise I have got off lightly - no duplications or other jumble - I am so relieved!

I'll forget about contacts and calendar on the ipod. Not worth the hassle. I reckon I prefer to delete the cloud thing altogether too. It should be OK just downloading apps over wifi, shouldn't it?

For anyone interested - best solution for reliably syncing in both directions, and with categories, Outlook calendar events, contacts, tasks and notes between a phone and a computer WAS without doubt the old Windows CE devices and Window PC. Currently, the best solution IS Blackberry devices [OS 4 thru 7 only] and any Windows PC. I am of course talking about USB-syncing, a procedure which takes place in the room that me, my phone and my computer are currently sitting in, and NOWHERE else. My confidential data remains that way throughout. I have found a good system that does not adulterate, drop, duplicate or otherwise subvert the data in the process, and for as long as these relatively ancient devices work, I shall continue to use them.

How arrogant can Apple be. Well the answer is pretty darned Arrogant with a capital A. It is one thing to design iCloud like Dropbox where all your information is backed up and synchronized in the cloud but to steal and delete or hide all your years of carefully maintained information under the guise of an "iCloud Panel" without letting you know it would destroy everything else.

Not that I keep naked selfies of myself around but given how that has worked out, I darned sure don't want iCloud having all my data.

Cupertino idiots!
