Hi all,
I have installed iOS5 with what seems to be no problem until I want to use the notifications tool. When I get a tweet or message they pop up at the top of the screen and I can grab them and pull them down but when I don't have the notification up on the top, there is no way for me to just swipe down from the top to open notification centre. Please help?!?
iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.3.3, I am running iOS 5
You have to swipe down right from the very top of the screen - took me a while to figure this one out. Try swiping down from the clock/carrier status bar thingy (I'm sure there is a proper name for this area of the screen)
I tested the touch screen with the built-in calculator app in both portrait and landscape mode, all the buttons work fine, which probably means the touch screen isn't faulty. So I really don't know what's the problem.
Enough people have the same problem that it looks like a software glitch with the installation process. Apple charges to talk on the phone so have been waiting for someone to post the fix online but nobody has. I would like to try re-installing the software upgrade but doesn't look like it is possible. All resets do not help at all.
Latest update from me. I tried restoring the phone in DFU mode on my other PC that's freshly installed with iTune. Still same result. But I noticed one more thing. For example when I received a message, I'm able to pull the notification center down in portrait mode. But otherwise it's still the same problem.
Hey guys, I believed I found out what's the problem. The touch screen might be faulty after all. I tested using the calculator app again. Position your phone in landscape mode, with the home button on your left hand side, and test if there's response from those buttons on your right hand side near the edge of the screen. Press them around the edge of the screen. Mine doesn't response when I tested it this way.
Thanks for the update/troubleshooting, it was most helpful. Based on that I was able to get insurance to cover the replacement phone. Thanks for taking the time to inform us all.
Guys, I can confirm it's due to faulty screen. I replaced the screen and it works perfectly again.
i have the same problem, but i got my solution, try charging your phone in your computer, then try to swipe down your notification, i hope this helps your problem 🙂
If you have installed LockInfo, make sure the Notification center is not disabled

I have the same problem since I update my phone
same issue on IP6+ iOS 8.1.3, in both landscape and portrait mode. no issue on lock screen.
after turning off the zoom feature under general -> accessibility -> zoom -> off, the notification center and control center can be swiped now in both modes.
gotta try a few more days to confirm.
