Music App. In iOS 5 doesn't show Lyrics

Hello everybody. Yesterday I updated my iPad 2 with iOS 5. Now in the Music App the Lyrics don't appear anymore. I'm very disappointed and angry about that. Can anybody please tell me if it is a bug or if this was made intentionally. I hope tat this is a bug because the iOS 5 manual for the iPad (Ipad userguide for ios5 - downloaded from ibooks) shows on page 218 the following: "Display a song’s lyrics

Display the album cover by tapping the thumbnail at the top of the screen. Lyrics appear if you’ve added them to the song using the song’s Info window in iTunes." If it is a bug, when will it be fixed? If it is no bug, then I want to go back to its 4.3.5. Can anybody tell me how that would work?

Best Regards

This is very strange.

You are the only person that reports seeing lyrics at all on iPad 2 with iOS5.

So could it be that iTunes Match has somehow enabled this for you,

but only for songs NOT downloaded with iTunes Match?

Did you try before getting the iTunes Match subscription?

Are the songs where you see lyrics on your Mac "matched", or uploaded from your own library?

I am not using iTunes Match, and I do not see any lyrics on my iPad, though I have

lots of them on my Mac.

I'm sorry, Adrian, I misspoke... I could have sworn I had seen lyrics on the ipad, but now I can't replicate it and I also see that there's no "show lyrics and podcast info" in the Music settings like there is on the iphone. Sorry for the confusion.

However, I'm still having the "uncorrectible lyrics" problem on the iphone, and the no-lyrics issue when syncing the iphone 4S from itunes match, although the lyrics are delivered via match to other macs.

Second: Opening a post in an Apple Support Forum with the report of errors or bugs in ios5 seems to be almost irrelevant. Not a single Apple Support Employee has answered to this post.

and Apple employees will not respond in these user-to-user forums.

Third: The thing that lasts is the (small) hope that one day Apple will listen to the customers

Have you sent in feedback/suggestions to Apple?

who have run out of the 6 Months Support time.

What "6 Months Support time" are you referring to?

All Apple products come with one year warranty & support.

I am referring to the telephone/ mail support from Apple in Germany. I meant the 3 (not 6) Months Telephone or Mail Support.

Regarding to Feedback:

If you read the whole post, you would have read that I' ve used the Feedback Form already.

Regarding to Apple Employees:

Are You working for Apple? How would you know that? And if it would be true that Apple Employees don't read the Forum from their Employer then Good Night Forum! We are at a apple Forum here.

But anyway this is all OT - we need to stick to the Issue and that is the missing lyrics on iPad 2 with iOS 5 (and 5.01)

Best regards

No.

How would you know that?

It is started in the Terms of Service you agreed to when you registered here.

Good night!

But anyway this is all OT

Not at all.

Sinec it is an issue with iOS 5, Apple nmeeds to address it in a fix.

And if they are not aware of the issue (very unlikely), then the correct way to address it is to submit a bug report or feedback. Simply complaining here will do zero.

It seems completely rediculous not only that they made such a "regression" in this application but also that there is not any correspondance yet for such a huge mistake !

It was not only Lyrics that you might add , I used to load all kind of useful info like reviews or even music analysis (especially for classical music) transforming this facility to a a highly music educational tool !

And now what ? You just lose even the most basic functions that were present in the 1st generation of ipods !!

I work for a big company , I have quite an experience on marketing , design or customer support but Apple's principles are still completely unexplainable to me.

They create such precious gadgets but with so many limitations , they consider as an optional to be able to open just a pdf file , to make a basic file management or to open any kind of a video file (that only needed an application of 3€ !)

Ι' m facing an additional difficulty on this horrible ipad music application, whenever I load albums with various artists I see them as separate albums instead of just one with the original sequence of songs.

Could you please inform me what do I have to do ?

Hi Genosis,

thanks a lot for your kind reply but I'm afraid that I was not clear enough about the problem.

I certainly have all songs under the same Album name (e.g.100 personal best) .

In fact I also use an iTouch with an earlier iOS version and I see all these songs of different artists as one album .

In contrary , in ipad I see these songs as separate albums because in the latest iOS version something is changed and some additional adjustments are necessary !

Any idea ?

For anyone who's interested, I finally found a practical solution through the following site

You just have to follow this procedure :

1. Highlight all of the tracks on the album.

2. Right-click on one of them and select Get Info.

3. Type a space at the end of the Album Artist. Click OK when done.

4. Right-click on the tracks again and go back to Get Info.

5. Take the space out at the end and click OK.

So, at least there is only one important problem -with Lyrics or text in general - left waiting for an upgrade whenever they reconsider the importance of Music application and it's facilities.

John,

thank you for your own proposal , I had already tried this also and it didn't work like some other alternative steps.

I even found a similar thread in this site with other proposals and I have to tell you that the procedure explained in my last post was one of the easiest and the only one with success!

It probably is another type of a secondary bug in an application (like music player) that Apple seems not to pay so much attention lately considering that the main Target Group of customers is orientated in other type of applications !!

As another example. I might say that I used for several years an iTouch during jogging for listening music and I truly could never understand why Apple specialists did not consider as an essential feature the existance of a 2nd external switch (just for the basic function of changing songs) !

Dec 3, 2011 8:28 AM in response to Genosis

Im afraid that maybe IS the new feature of ios 5.cuz recently its hard to copy the lyrics on some curtain websits out of the copyright protection.

So i think apple thought abt this and remove the lyrics feature before they had trouble.

Just my guess and i hope apple would bring the feature back, cuz it is really important to me,i use it a lot before.

And anyone can recommend an music player app that can automacially load the lyrics which i added vid itunes?so that i can replace the stupid music app on ipad.
