iphone 4+iOS 5: volume issue when using bluetooth carkit (VW passat '11)

hi

i searched all over the net and i didnt find any record of my problem.

i got the iphone 4. it used to run 4.3.3 it worked perfectly. even with my newly VW passat with the RSN310

since i installed ios 5 i found improvements(display wise) but a few downsiders (very annoying ones)

whenever my phone connects with my car, my ringer sound & music sound goes flatlined. (all the way down to nearly mute)
settings > sounds

&

music (airplay)

now if i want to stream my music trough the speakers i dont hear anything unless i raise the volume to MAX and its like a mouse sound. (barely hearable)

(to stream music, i just press MEDIA on my car dash board)

in order to correctly play and hear incomming calls i have to do the following:

wait for phone to connect, then go settings > sounds, raise ringer volume (for incomming calls), then go to music, raise the volume and only THEN i may press Media on my car dashboard to play music & hear incomming calls.

quite some process compared to what used to work fine 3 days ago (even taking into considerations that my RSN 310 didnt display the song info back then, but with ios5 is gives me artis, albmum & song tittle.)

I have this issue also since the upgrade yesterday - great! When connected via bluetooth I can select music from the Iphone and yes I can see it in the radio display screen... however! Now I can't hear it very well, not at all or perfectly fine.. So annoying! it worked perfectly prior to the upgrade - but I couldn't see the song info on the screen.. I have a Passatt CC - Why on earth don't they test these things properly!!!

I have the exact same problem. I have the iphone 4, just upgraded to ios 5, and I have a 2012 Jetta with navigation. Every time my iphone connects via bluetooth to my Jetta the ringer volume goes to zero, and it doesn't come back up when I turn off the car. I have tried to re-pair the iphone but this has not fixed it. My music still sounds great through the bluetooth connection, but the changing ringer volume is annoying. This did not happen before I upgraded to ios 5. I just want to know who to talk to about this, Apple or VW?

It sounds like the same or similar problem - only with mine the music doesn't play very well via bluetooth and the the song info is a little confused (the count down and count up time are out of synch and usually it just stops)

I do have the phone volume issue too (it zeros on connection) - I found for the first couple of times just flicking the volume switch on the phone sorted it out - it now doesn't and I can't play music through the phone anymore.

As the playback worked perfectly before I would hazard a guess at it being Apple's issue not VW's

I am having this problem as well, but it happens throughout the day. I will suddenly realize that the "ding" for an email or a voicemail notice is really muted. Lo and behold, the volume is down to the lowest notch. I even made the setting so that the buttons on the side can't be used - but the volume still went down on its own. Very frustrating!

I have an iPhone 3gs and it was working perfectly prior to downloading iOS 5. I drive a Yukon XL, but I don't think it's the vehicle that is the problem.

I have the same problem with the RNS315 in our 2012 EOS. Very strange, every connection there is another issue...

The first time I connected the iPhone after the iOS5-update it works fine, but after disconnection the volume of the ring tone stays as zero. But audio streaming was ok.

The next time the audio streaming volume was set to zero soon after connection but I can raise the volume on the iPhone and the sound was good.

The next time the audio volume stays high on the iPhone but the music didn't start. Skipping to the next title starts the music but only the mentioned "mouse" sound, bearly hearable...

With iOS 4.3 all works fine... is it possible to reinstall it? 😕

Just to add my experiences:

It's not the vehical or head unit, as my Jaguar S-Type with an aftermarket Pioneer AVIC-F930BT is having the same issue with my iPhone 4 / iOS5.

It's not all the time - sometimes I can resume the streaming and it's perfect. Other times I get in the car and it's reset to zero. When this occurs, I need to switch the head unit to standby, and then turn up the volume on the iPhone again. Then switching back to the BT source on the head unit allows the music to be heard again. Just turning the volume up when it's still connected doesn't affect the volume at all.

Cheers

Apple have a great system - it's called "Get your customers to fix your issues for you because it saves you squillions of dollars that you don't really need to spend <--- we can call it a forum or a user group"

I wouldn't expect too much from them. Call me cynical... but they really need a competitor..

Wouldn't be surprised if doesn't get too much bigger before the US governemnt orders for it to be broken up.
