Why does my Me mail account keep asking for password?

Try to understand that it is a label, you can change it to anything you want, it is not your mail account.

And If you can't do any of the things I asked I'll say goodbye now.

that's really hysterical. as you see, it received mail today. I started using it on October 19, 2013, so I couldn't have "neglected to remove it when MM closed," because apparently MM closed over a year before it started being used.

look, it may only be a label, but that's the label MAC has given it, not me. and therefore THAT'S how I am refering to it.

saying that it "doesn't exist" is not only not helpful, it is insisting that the label is the thing. the PROBLEM is that whatever its label is, it is not working and mail is neither being received or sent under the mail account that is labeled "MobileMe." if anyone has a solution to THAT problem and isn't playing semantic games, great. if not, don't bother speaking up.

What version of OS X is this.

I think that the problem is with Mail on pre-Lion OSes. I have a brand-new iCloud email account set up on Snow Leopard, and it won't accept the password any more. The same account works fine on another Mac running Lion.

thanks, deh2K. I'm not having any problem using that mail account on my iPhone. it's just my desktop, which is running Snow Loepard OS 10.6.8. I guess what I'll have to do is reset the password via my iPhone, and see if that will resolve the desktop Mail problem.

I don't think that will help. Snow Leopard Mail just doesn't work with iCloud, no matter what your password is. Apple must have changed something on their servers that broke older Mail clients.

I expect that they know about it, judging by what I see on these discussion forums. It can't hurt to let them know anyway. As for me, I am upgrading my wife's iMac to Mavericks, since I was planning to do that eventually anyway.

I hope they know about it, because my iMac works great, and I have also used .mac for a long time.

It hasn't been working for me today either.

I'm one of those stuck with 10.6.8 and supported the iCloud through my subscriptions for years.

I hope this is only a "brake" because my iMac, has been working with iCloud through ALL of their upgrades, so yes, my account works.

I can log into this site, App Store, iCloud from my browser, but the Mail App' has gone nuts, today.

I suspect that this was unintentional on Apple's part. BTW, I believe that this is a server/client software version incompatibility, and has nothing to do with type of computer, MobileMe use, etc.

I am on a late 2009 iMac that has been upgraded to Mavericks and I am experiencing the same issue. iCloud mail will not accept my password. I can go to icloud.com and acess also can get access from my iPhone and iPad but not my iMac?

Me too. I called in and couldn't get an answer -- and that was around four hours ago. My mac book mail password doesn't work, my phone (android) icloud authenitcation doesn't work...(but I CAN log in to icloud via web)

I hope your correct and fix it, because now when I go to Sys>Accounts>MobileMe enter my name and password, I'm not recognized, as to where I was.

So in any case, I'm going for a beer, and hope the problem WILL BE resolved. 🙂
