After update to iOS 5 my iPad-1 can't add new events to Calendar and Contacts

I have the same problem on my iphone4. After the IOS5 install I have lost the plus button on my calendar, so am unable to add events to my calendar. I can edit existing events, though.

I have the same issue, and I don't have any event information on my iPhone calendar. No "+" or "calendar" buttons at the top. Anybody know of a fix for this?

I got the iOS 5 Calendar to work. I opened it up and pressed the invitations/download button on the lower right. Immediately after doing this, my calendar was populated with my events, and I have the "+" in upper right, and "calendars" in the upper left.

I have the same problem on my iPhone 4. no "Calendars" or "+" button so i can't add any new events to the calendar. Extremely annoying and it renders the calendar useless. If someone could please tell us how to fix this bug, it would be so appreciated!

I encountered this same issue on my iPad2. There were no entries in my calendar after the upgrade to ios5. Opening and closing the app made no difference. Refreshing iCal on the Mac made no difference. I opened the "Calendars" list and they were all checked off. But there's a small "refresh" icon on the left side of the "Calendars" list. Just tap that and it forces the calendar to refresh. When I did that, my entire calendar repopulated.

On my iPhone 3GS I fixed the calendar new event problem by turning on iCloud for the calendar-functionality restored even after I turned off iCloud.

I have same problem on an iPad 2 but don't want to turn on iCloud for that calendar so haven't tested this work around.

I was literally in my car on my way to an appointment at the Genius Bar to try to get their help with this problem when I saw your posting (don't worry, I wasn't driving). I turned on iCloud for my Calendar and voila, it fixed the problem just as you said. (on my iPhone 4).

It all has to do with stupid iCloud. If you go to Settings - iCloud - Turn on Contacts and Calendars you will be able to add contacts and calendar events. Its so Apple gets to know everything about you, there goes all our privacy. Thanks apple....... with your new update...now you can sell our data to make you even richer.

No plus sign to add eevnts on calendar on iPad 1 after update and can't edit contacts
