I reported that my yahoo push email hasn't been working a few weeks ago. Today it started working again. I received all the apple email followups pertaining to this thread so far, and a couple other emails this morning. I even received three apple messages while typing this message. I checked the time stamp and all looks good. I hope it stays fixed because it's annoying as **** when it's not.

A couple weeks ago, I tried the add/delete account thing but it didn't work. I didn't expect it to work anyways. The dude at the AT&T store claimed to not hear of this issue, which doesn't surprise me. They're just interested in selling stuff. I'm using the AT&T iPhone 4s running 5.0.1. I didn't think going to 5.1.1 would make a difference if it was a yahoo issue.

I'll post a followup later if push fails by the end of the day.

My gmail is working fine. It's just Yahoo is kinda wonky cause it needs a workaround with the dummy account to make it work. That said, my Yahoo mail is still pushing normally with the dummy account. For those whose Yahoo still doesn't work with a dummy account, try adding another one. I'm not sure if that'll work at all, but I'm just tossing ideas out there.

I have this problem with my Iphone 4, but never with my Ipad 2. I have found that if I turn off the phone completely (not just turning the screen off) and restart my phone, emails will be push to my Iphone typically for 4-5 days. Thereafter the emails will not be pushed again unless I repeat the process. Not sure why I only have this problem with my Iphone and not Ipad. The settings are the same.

i picked up the issue after upgrading to IOS 5.1.1 and yahoo's email issues on 6/19. I manage an IT dept so I'm not some country bumpkin (no offense inteneded) Telling me to check my settings and reboot isn't really going to solve anything when i've checked them a dozen times Apple's support response is weak at best and Yahoo's well there is a reason Google is kicking their butt.

I also have Gmail, Hotmail, Windows Live and MS exchange accounts goign to my phone and they are working without issue.

Pretty much tried same as everyone else. i've nuked and restored phone, email accounts blah blah blah...... getting various errors including

can't connect to server

wrong password

apple.imap.yahoo.com not responding and

wrong password logging into apple.imap etc

every once in a while things sync up (like about 10 hours ago)

I have a sneaking suspicision that the trust relationship between apple.imap.yahoo and the actual yahoo mail servers is borked. Would explain some of the errors. I've seen similar type stuff with Exhange between 2 domains.

Perhaps if anyone could get through to Apple and/or Yahoo's support engineers they could have them look at it.

other than that I'm open to any other suggestions people have. Yes my phone is a dinosaur Iphone3G - but it worked fine till i updated the IOS and yahoo mail went down last week for a while

I am so sick of this issue. I've been having the issues you describe since yesterday, plus it takes forever to send an email. I don't understand why something that's used as much as yahoo mail, ipads and iphones, is STILL not working smoothly after one year! And it doesn't matter what email provider because I've got gmail also and the phone reacts the same way with gmail. This makes me suspect that its totally an apple issue.

I've been having problems with the mail app not pushing, wrong passwords, emails not sending on and off since I joined the droves in purchasing my ipad and iphone. I'm so tired of it, in fact, that my next purchase just may be android.

good luck with that Laura....i'm still trying to find a way to get through to yahoo's tech support. Even if we did it will be Yahoo blames Apple, Apple blames Yahoo....nothing ets done and WE suffer. Only think i know for sure is i've had my iphone since 09 and no issues till i upgraded to 5.1.1. since then my yahoo sync is gone, GPS has become a joke (showed me in South Africa when i live in upstate NY). I've also noticed its much slower and battery life isn't the same. 5.1.1 is buggy i don't care what anyone says......though apple will never admit it.
