For what it's worth, I have Yahoo Mail Plus and push notifications are not working for me either, so having a Plus account doesn't matter. When I switch to the mail app it fetches my messages, but I'm not getting new mail until I do that. This stopped working on both my iPhone 4S and iPad at the same time, maybe a week ago, so it's not a device issue.

Others have said Yahoo knows about the problem and is working on a fix. Hopefully push will just start working again when the problem is resolved.

I have the exact same problem with many of your here. My Yahoo mail suddenly stopped working. Tried every possible methods and I am now convience it's a Yahoo problem.

1. Delete and re-add Yahoo account - Didn't work.

2. Reset network setting - Didn't work.

3. Login and out of m.yahoo.com for mail - Didn't work.

4. Went into the profile and removed the website and apps for iPhone - Didn't work.

5. Toggle between the Fetch, Manual, and Push. - Didn't work.

6. Configuring the notification setting for alerts. - Didn't work.

Here is what works. Added another Yahoo account to the same iPhone 4S with the exact same setting and configuration and it works. Same free Yahoo mail service, but just different account and one pushes but not the other. So this is indeed an issue affecting some users, but not all. You can even test this by having your yahoo account on the phone then create another one and add it there so that you'll have two on your iPhone. You'll notice that one of them will work, but not the other.

I did a live chat with Yahoo! today. Below is a transcript of the conversation:

All Yahoo! agents are currently assisting others. Thank you for your patience. A Yahoo! agent will be with you shortly. Your expected wait time is approximately 0 minutes.

You are now chatting with Agent

Agent: Hi Me. Welcome to our Yahoo! Mail Live Chat service.

Agent: I'm glad you've joined us.

Me: Hello and thank you.

Agent: Thanks for providing the details of your issue.

Agent: From what I understand, the Push Notifications are delayed or are not functioning on your iPhone iOS device. Is that correct?

Me: That is correct. It stopped working early last week.

Agent: Thanks for confirming that. I can see how inconvenient this must be.

Agent: May I have your email address in which you need an assistance for this issue?

Me: XXXXX@yahoo.com

Agent: Thanks for confirming.

Me: Also, just so you're aware, other E-Mail services are pushing. I also checked in with Apple and it seems there are quite a few iOS users with this same problem.

Agent: Yes, I understand your situation and would like to inform you that this is a known issue at our Yahoo! side and Our Engineering team is already working on the resolution now, and we intend to have it corrected as soon as possible. The ticket number for this issue is 5085840.

Agent: I apologize for the inconvenience this is causing you and I appreciate your patience while we correct the issue.

Me: Okay, so your company is aware and working to resolve it, is that correct?

Agent: Yes, it's not an issue at your end, it is at Yahoo! side and once it is resolved it will automatically applied to your account.

Agent: Aside from that, is there anything else I can help you with?

Me: Nope. I appreciate your help. Thank you.

Agent: You're welcome.

Agent: I'd appreciate it if you'd complete a survey at the end of this session to give us your comments and suggestions. To find the survey, click on the "End Chat" button at the top right of the chat window and you'll be directed to the survey page.

Agent: Thanks a lot for chatting. Have a nice time!

Agent: If assistance is not needed anymore, please click on the "End Chat" button at the top right of the chat window to give way to other customers.

Thank you for contacting us. Have a great day.

So, apparently, Yahoo! is aware and there is a ticket. The ticket number, in case you missed it, is: 5085840

Thanks glenn for that post of your chat with Yahoo. I have the same problem and tried every fix that users posted on this board, but none of them worked. I talked to Apple this morning and they tried to help but the 2nd level tech told me that he has been inundated with calls about the same problem. I sent him a copy of the chat session that you posted. That was so helpful as I can now stop changing things with no result and wait for Yahoo to fix this. Thanks again.

I was talking to Yahoo support and they're trying to restore accounts that are impacted. The guy said Yahoo was upgrading or migrating their messaging system to support MS Exchange's activesync for better mobile support but ran into issues and now is in the course of rolling back the changes. Yahoo mail never worked very well with mobile devices, so I guess they're trying to do someing like me.com or Gmail and Hotmail where activesync is much more reliable.
