ios 5 + car + dock + bt = problem

Problem 1 - The phone switches to BT after 50 seconds instead of using the dock contact. It has been a problem in every ios 5 build and it survived into release. Manually choosing dock contact = fine for 50 seconds then it swaps again.

Anyone else got this? I do not want to play music through BT - I want it through dock contact. Telephone works great through BT as it should.

This worked fine in all earlier ios releases - its a ios 5 problem.

My car is a 2011 Volvo V60 - I do not want to firmware update my car even - it is innocent!

Problem 2 - Docking it in car - It very often forget what album it was playing and start to play songs in an alphabetical order starting with A

Problem 3 - Playing music through Synology app for example works great for one song and then it take a random song from iphone player instead.

Same problem goes for playing radio with example Tunein Radio.

OK, everybody -- I THINK VOLVO HAS FIXED IT!!!!

I brought my 2011 S60 to the dealer for an unrelated issue yesterday (punctured tire), and when I got it back today, they had also applied a software recall. When I asked what that was about, the service rep said it was something about the nav system. When I got in the car, I noticed all my previously paired bluetooth devices were "forgotten." I re-paired my iPhone 4S (5.0.1), made a phone call and played music over bluetooth fine. With great hopes that it would be fixed, I then plugged the phone into my USB/dock connector cable and switched to Media->iPod. I am happy to report that I listened to over 20 minutes of music via dock connector uninterrupted!!!

I hope this was not a fluke occurence, and that others will be able to verify this as a FIX.

On my service invoice, they called it "Service Action 248" and a description called it "IAM UPGRADE."

Thanks to all of you for contributing to these forums. Nice to know I am not alone.

Cheers!

2012 Acura TL checkinng in with the same problem.

I don't know if it has been mentioned in the previous pages or not, but unlike the OP mine doesn't keep switching back, only after the initial connection to the car. After I switch it to dock connector it seems to work fine. Still very annoying. Anyone in the dev community here and know of a fix in the works?

Also the music selection system is very annoying. If I choose a song by an artist that starts with 'S', and then I want to change to another song in the same artist, I have to scroll all the way back down to S, and that takes a while in the Acura. This though I suspect is a problem on Acura's part, not Apple's, so I'll ask them about it when I bring the car in for its first service in a few days.

I did read your post above, and that's why I'm asking, "How can I tell if I have Sensus version 09F5?"

My car was at the dealer a few weeks ago. They claim they do free software upgrades every time they service a car. So, before I call them and bug them about the IAM Upgrade, I want to check if I got it already.

I found where I can check the Bluetooth software version and the DIVX version, but not the Sensus version. I'm hoping there's a way.

Thanks!

Hey Guys,

I reached out to Volvo corporate (north america) about this again and should know more this week. They're going to check my VIN and see which version it has versus the latest and let me know if this was actually a line item fix in the latest release. Sensus is apparently written over in Europe in the corporate group and sometimes they're a little more disconnected on it and new releases here in the states.

I'll post back when I hear anything. 🙂

Hi all

We took our Volvo to the UK Volvo dealership and they updated the Sensus software which took about 2 hours and the issue has now been resolved. We tried looking for the Sensus software version on the settings but had no luck and it took Volvo a while to understand what we were talking about. We persisted with them that we needed the software updating and all works well now. We were directed to the lead technician who knew what needed to be done.

I hope you all manage to get updated OK and I hope iOS 5.1 doesn't mess it up again.

Who do you contact at Volvo US? I emailed the Director of Service at my Volvo dealership, who replied,

We would need to connect your vehicle to Volvo to determine if there is an IAM upgrade available for your vehicle. Unfortunately I can't confirm if your vehicle is eligible without connecting.

I'm surprised they have no record, especially since the S60 is only 9 weeks old.

I'm supposed to get free software updates during my service visits for the first four(?) years. If I have to pay for this visit, since it's only for software, I may wait. Especially with iOS 5.1 on the horizon.

Thanks!

Has there ever been a fix for this problem, I too have exactly the same issue with my 2012 S60. It does seem that there are a lot of Vlovo owners with this problem, it is just an iOS5 issue or does Volve share also in the problem.
