ios 5 + car + dock + bt = problem

Problem 1 - The phone switches to BT after 50 seconds instead of using the dock contact. It has been a problem in every ios 5 build and it survived into release. Manually choosing dock contact = fine for 50 seconds then it swaps again.

Anyone else got this? I do not want to play music through BT - I want it through dock contact. Telephone works great through BT as it should.

This worked fine in all earlier ios releases - its a ios 5 problem.

My car is a 2011 Volvo V60 - I do not want to firmware update my car even - it is innocent!

Problem 2 - Docking it in car - It very often forget what album it was playing and start to play songs in an alphabetical order starting with A

Problem 3 - Playing music through Synology app for example works great for one song and then it take a random song from iphone player instead.

Same problem goes for playing radio with example Tunein Radio.

Hi all!

I have got the upgrade and it solved the described problem, at least to 90%.

I might be sensitive, but I still think there is a problem:

If I connect the USB-cable to the iPhone before it has paired to the car using BT, then the iPod app also uses BT "My Volvo Car" as output. If I change that to Docking Cable it works ok after that.

If I stop the car, open the door and then start again, a new BT pairing starts and the above described happens all over again. A bit annoying still.....

Hi,

this is NO Volvo problem - it's APPLE.

The iPhone uses ALWAYS the last connection. So if you plug-in USB, it is instantly available. After that BT comes up and pairs, so this is the last connection for the iPhone and it switches music output to BT.

This can only be solved if APPLE would give an option/setting to set the standard output connection.

Just to confirm for anyone in the UK I have been for my first service today and the dealer have up-graded my bluetooth software so the iphone is now working like before (you need to switch the audio profile to get it working) ... doesnt cut out. Service manager said there was a major software upgrade for the S60.. only things i notice different apart from the iphone working is :

  • edrive now comes up on the dials when started
  • Heated seats now come up big when adjusted (like climate settings)
  • You can now search for tracks on the iphone ipod - annoying before as didnt do it.

Think thats all for now... got a nice top of the range xc60 whilst they did mine too with sat nav .. (pitty they charge a fortune for a service)

Have a good weekend.
