ios 5 + car + dock + bt = problem

Problem 1 - The phone switches to BT after 50 seconds instead of using the dock contact. It has been a problem in every ios 5 build and it survived into release. Manually choosing dock contact = fine for 50 seconds then it swaps again.

Anyone else got this? I do not want to play music through BT - I want it through dock contact. Telephone works great through BT as it should.

This worked fine in all earlier ios releases - its a ios 5 problem.

My car is a 2011 Volvo V60 - I do not want to firmware update my car even - it is innocent!

Problem 2 - Docking it in car - It very often forget what album it was playing and start to play songs in an alphabetical order starting with A

Problem 3 - Playing music through Synology app for example works great for one song and then it take a random song from iphone player instead.

Same problem goes for playing radio with example Tunein Radio.

lmfiko... compeltely different issue. Give Volvo North America's customer server center a call and report the issue to them. Or just visit your local dealer. I'm having no sound quality issues at all.

But, another +1 for the latest Sensus update fixing this issue. 5.00.17S is the Bluetooth version. I had 17Q in my car before the update.

If they have any trouble finding the right update, tell them to look for TJ25478. That is the technical bulletin number that details the issue in detail and it should point them to the IAM (integrated audio module) upgrade.

Lets clarify, it's not fixing issue, we just obtain workaround. Before fix, iphone continiusly switch audio device to bluetooth, in 17S version it's doing same thing, but just once and not do that by command from sensus any more, and/but now possible manualy select _right_ audio channel.

Just try while listening music over cable, select from sensus playback over Bluetooth, you'll get no sound.

Bug still there, iOS and Sensus, one of them or both works not right way.

but we're now can use it somehow 🙂

Wingie, even when everything was "working", you couldn't select bluetooth from Sensus and have it play over the car speakers without also selecting bluetooth on the iPhone as well.

What this fixes is the (continuous) switching back and forth to bluetooth after chosing "dock connector" on the iPhone. It will now remain on dock connector unless you specify otherwise.

My XC60 went in on Tuesday last for a software update when I picked the car up the Dock connector worked until the next day then same problem cuts off after 30-45 seconds it went back in today they are saying it has all the latest software for all the systems, Volvo technical dept. are saying its a Apple software conflict ( we all know that ) they are in contact with Apple and its a case of waiting for Apple to sort out ISO5

Just to make sure I understand you correctly. Is there an IAM upgrade for 09F5/BT-5.00.17S? or should these version numbers be enough to assume proper functioning. I just picked up my new V70, built week 48 2011. It shows sensus version 09F5 and BT version 5.00.17S but the BT/USB docking issue is still present.

I visited my Volvo dealer 2 weeks ago and got the IAM upgrade for my 2012 XC60 (US), which, I believe, included a Sensus upgrade. I connected my phone via USB and was able to stream music for more than 2 minutes before it stopped. The only workaround was to play music from my iPhone 4S (IOS 5.01) via bluetooth, which works very well. I have had several instances where an incoming call rings in my car but will not answer through the enter key; I am able to answer the call on the iPhone, but the car continues to ring until I disconnect the phone from bluetooth. I had this problem several times prior to the upgrade and several since. I've also noticed since getting the car that piano sounds via Sirius radio are markedly warbled, regardless of the station playing.

I had a 2010 XC60 with the same type of system (obviously prior to Sensus); the satellite radio sounded great, the bluetooth phone worked great and the streaming of music via the USB cable worked flawlessly. This was before Sensus and before I upgraded to IOS 5 on my phone.

There's no question that this matter belongs jointly to Apple and Volvo, and, like everyone else here, I hope they get together and come out with a real fix. For such expensive equipment, it's very disappointing that the function doesn't follow the form.

Jan 19, 2012 9:50 PM in response to L'Affama

Correct. 5.00.17S should be the properly working bluetooth version.

But, L\'Affama and Jack, you should both report this to Volvo. Maybe the fix wasn't entirely comprehensive. I don't want to just post it here, but if either of you are in the US, you can easily find the Volvo NA customer care line and/or e-mail address. They're a great team and they can be sure to file these complaints with the right group to get them addressed quickly.

I took delivery of my V70 on 17th Jan 2012. As it turned out, the iPod USB function did not work as described in this forum, i.e. continuous fall back to bleutooth connection in case handsfree enabled.

Consultation with my Volvo dealer Buitenweg Naarden did not result in any tangible solution. Totally unsatisfied I contacted Volvo A'dam who immediately searched into the database of Volvo's "Technical Infromation Exchange". They confirmed that Volvo had issued a TIE on 2012-01-11 under the subject of "Sensus, loss of sound i-pod function, IOS5, bulletin nr. B225478.2.1 nl-NL". The bulletin eaxactly describes the dilemma as highlighted in this forum. The V70 was delivered with Sensus software version 09F5 for which the bulletin indicated that a substantial software update to the IAM (integrated Audio Module) was available since 11th January 2012. I was offered to come along and within 30 minutes, the update was loaded and ALL functions worked as intended. Why my original Volvo dealer could not help me is beyond me but it indicates that there are still a lot of ignorent indiviuduals around.

The bulletin also highlighted that this software upgrade is NOT available in the production line until week 09 2012. So anyone buying a new volvo with sensus unit prior to approx. week 12 should assume not having all functionallity at their disposal unless the dealer carries out an software upgrade prior to delivery. One shoul NOT assume that this will be done by default as experienced.

Jan 21, 2012 2:31 AM in response to L'Affama

Hi! Can you please explain "ALL functions worked as intented"?

I, for example, got the 09F5, but stil experience some behaviour I don't like.

If I have my iPhone docked, listening to audio via "iPod", stop the car and for example fill petrol, when I then start the car again, the Bluetooth pairing of the phone, also sets the iPod app to output to "My Volvo Car" = BT.

To avoiding this to happen, I have to unplug the USB cable when stopping and replug it again after BT pairing.

As some already has indicated, this can by all means be anApple issue, but I wouldn't describe it as "works as intended" in my boook. That is why I ask.

I have access to TIE at work, så I shall have a look in that bullentin on Monday.

"All functions worked as intended" means for me that I can browse through Albums/Artists etc. by connecting via iPOD. Your observation is correct that once you stop/start the car, you have to manually set the iPod in docking mode again. This however depend on the following. If you plug in the USB before the iPhone has paired via bluetooth, you have to set the iPod function to docking on the iPhone. If you allow the iPhone to pair first and than plug in the usb, it immediately goes to docking and stays there, at least during a two hr. trip.

Hi,

why is it a shame? If other cars are affected, post here your information. If you read the thread you will find some other manufacturers with this problem, all solved it with a software update.

In german land rover forum blacklandy.de there where also some posts about this problem - but land rover is sometimes slower than others... 😉 😟
