Today we updated all of our corporate iPad 2's to iOS 5.0.1 and I'm disappointed to say that every one of our iPads still crash 100% of the time when accessing our internal corporate web site.

I have filed a number of reports with Apple, shown the problem of the nasty JavaScript bug in iOS 5 to their repair center, etc… Their repair center suggested we redesign all of our corporate services to work within Apple standards if we intend to use iOS mobile devices. I asked, you mean redesign JavaScript? He said no, just don't use JavaScript because it obviously isn't supported by iOS. I wonder if Apple knows that their repair facilities are making such claims?

We can only hope that iOS 5.0.2 arrives quickly with a Safari fix or, as the CTO of my multinational company, I'll be looking to dump a boat load of Apple iOS driven products and find something that works with plain old W3C compliant web site designs.

Safari is still crashing on my iPad.

When I upgraded to ios 5.0 I restored my backup. However I have upgraded to ios 5.01 like a new device (after I have reinstalled all my apps). Safari is still crashing when I am typing long texts in forums webpages...

Don't upgrade to ios 5.01 like a new device, because the problems are still in.

Sorry for my English.

I am a iPad 2 owner.

Is Apple to revise this issue?

Nov 14, 2011 3:58 PM in response to petemj23

Yes, since shortly after ios5 was introduced, my iPad 1 has been crashing. Also, I am finding on a number of sites ,I.e., newspaper sites, when I go from the first page to read a story, when I hit the back button, it will usually take me back to the front page of yesterday's edition instead of back to the front page of the current edition. This is a real pain and I wonder when Apple is going to address this problem with ios5..

I am also having problems with the calendar not opening up when I first open Calendar. I have to go to another page and then reopen the current month before any data shows up..

I am also having problems with iBooks . When I attempt to bookmark a page, it bookmarks the proceeding page and not the page I want to bookmark. If I press the bookmark trying to get it to come on, the bookmark will show up under "Bookmarks" as many times as I push the bookmark.

This update to ios5 has had more problems than any other update and I have seen nothing to indicate that Apple is going to fix any of these problems. I love my ipad1 and enjoy using Apple products and will continue being an Apple fan; however, I hope they address these problems soon.

I'm having the same problem since the upgrade. Additionally the display of Facebook has also changed with the upgrade...the formatting of YouTube videos is not handled very well and they are displayed so large you that can't read the text or access the share and like links. My iPad is my first and only Apple product and I am surprised to see it have these sorts of problems. From all I've heard before trying Apple, I thought these sorts of things were the domain of PC's.

Nov 15, 2011 9:34 AM in response to petemj23

I have been having the problem for several weeks now, and ANY application that uses some memory (most games and Safari) crash all the time. My iPad1 was a fantastic machine, and now it's complete garbage.

I hope there's a way to revert to iOS4 without jailbreaking, or Apple releases a gimped version of iOS5 that even works on this machine.

This is my first major upgrade (I have many many Apple products, mind you) post-Jobs era, and it's just unuseable. I really hope this does not become the norm for Apple, though without Jobs Apple never did anything well.

I am only having problems with Ipad 1 after installing the 5.01 update.

It stutters a lot and quite a few apps crash. I dont know if this is a problem of the developers but the apps worked fine before the update.

I was using Ipad 1 with a projector, the apps I normaly use crashed multiple times and the poeple that were there asked me to bring a computer next time , it was EMBARASSING.

CoorsBullet said,

" If you Have upgraded and want to duplicate the problem just go to southwest and try to use their site. You will crash ALL the time!"

For example I don't have problems with that webpage...

Safari is more stable since I restored my iPad like a new device and I installed the last iOS 5.01.

However (it's very strange) but occasionally safari crashes when I am typing in forum webpages... It's always the same problems (with the keyboard active).

I dont know if it's a safari issue, or it's a keyboard (dictionary) problem combined with Safari.

I, too, have had all of these same problems! WTH??? I can't beieve that we have heard nothing on any of the other tech sites. I have an appointment at the Genuis Bar - maybe the 'genuises' can't help. I've been posting on a different thread about the caching issue. It's starting to feel like spitting in the wind here. Just a place to vent.
