iOS 5 AVRCP is it version 1.3?

Does the final iOS 5 for iPhone and iPad have Bluetooth AVRCP 1.3 support? Supposedly the betas have/had it. I have a Kenwood DDX418 car stereo that according to the owner's manual supports AVRCP 1.3 that enables showing tag info like artist, song, album info. I have my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 updated to iOS 5 but the song info doesn't seem to be tranmitting so I'm wondering if the AVRCP is still at 1.0. Thanks.

Well interestingly enough, I just bought a Mazda 3 last week and was shocked that the text did not display. I thought it was odd since most of the cars and audio units are amied at iPhone/Ipod users since they occupy most of the market. BUT what I thought was even weirder after reading this entire discussion board was that on mazdas bluetooth support website it displays that the Iphone 4s is incapable of even playing audio via bluetoothn through their head unit. It states that the mazda 3 is incapable of playing audio via bluetooth and incapable of displaying text. here is the link (you will have to pick your car and model of phone and such) www.mazdausa.com/bluetooth. Yet in the Mazda manual it clearly states it is capable of running the software apple claims to have on their iOS5. So mazda apparently thinks in their manual it will work, but on their website they say it wont work at all. Interesting. I sense false claims on mazdas part and a little confusion on their end. I'm starting to think its not an issue with apple at all. Derek, thank you for keeping us updated though! keep it up! I will be calling mazda tomorrow in hopes to get some answers also.

I saw that too and wasn't sure if Not Available meant they hadn't tested it or if it didn't work.

A user on a Mazda3 forum I frequently visit called Mazda's bluetooth support line and they are apparently aware of it but would not say when a fix would be ready. Not sure if that means they confirmed the issue is on their end or if they're still not sure yet. Apparently we can call in to be put on some mailing list to be notified when a fix is ready.

I have a JVC KW-AVX836 double-din AV headunit (AVX830 variant) in my car, which supports AVRCP 1.3 according to its owner's manual...

It worked OK with Samsung Galaxy S2 android phone....showed song data on its screen when connected via bluetooth...so I know that my JVC HU does support AVRCP 1.3...

However, when the HU is connected with an iphone via bluetooth, it never showed song data....I tried iphone 3gs and 4, and tried ios 5 beta, ios 5.01 and ios 5.1.....never worked!

Hello fellow Mazda owners.

I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0.1. I tested it on both a 2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback and a 2012 Mazda 3 Hatchback.

2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback: No song info through bluetooth on iPhone 4S. Did not test it with a MacBook Pro.

2012 Mazda 3 Hatchback: No song info through bluetooth on iPhone 4S. Song info through bluetooth on MacBook Pro!

I think both Apple and Mazda are to be blamed. But I think it's an easier fix on Apple's side. If the MacBook Pro is able to send song info through bluetooth, the iPhone 4S should be able to also.

I just reviewed Mazda's bluetooth compatibility site (http://mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/displayP...eter=bluetooth) and I reviewed all AT&T and Verizon phones for a Mazda 2011 CX-9 GT with navigation. There were over 200 phones listed, and NOT ONE showed that the bluetooth audio would "Displays Song Information". All 200+ phones were listed as "Not available". I got tired of clicking through all the manufacturers, but after selecting 2 of the major carriers, I have concluded that NO PHONE works with Mazda's feature. I am at a loss to why Mazda even has this on this vehicle if they cannot certify ANY phone to work well with the bluetooth audio (displaying song info).

I am not sure Apple is entirely to blame on this.

Nothing. Apple is ignoring my requests for status updates on the ticket. I also noticed I can't log into the bug report site right now. I get "An error occurred" message. I just got a new iPhone 4S because my work switched from AT&T to Verizon and it still doesn't work, so that rules out the phone hardware and carrier. It's gotta be a software bug. My HP Touchpad also stopped working when I upgraded it to ICS. Apparently ICS is missing AVRCP 1.3 support (the previous version had it). I wish Apple would address this... so annoying that a $300 phone can't do this.

Hi, I just bought a 2012 Mazda 3 Sport. I also don't see any song info. However, that to me like someone pointed out, is icing on the cake, and not that important. However, when I pair the device with the phone, the device name shows as "no name". I haven't tried other devices, but pairing 2 iphones (one iphone 4, one iphone 3GS), both show up as "No Name" so when i try to change the link between the phones, it becomes confusing and inconvenient that I have to remember which "order" i paired the devices.

Anyone also have this issue or know of a solution?

I don't think you can type in a name for the device, unfortunately. It usually gets it from the BT device. If you pair it using the voice prompts, it will ask you to say the name of it, however. When you change devices with the voice prompts, it will say the name of the device that is selected and you can cycle through them I believe.

iOS 5 AVRCP is it version 1.3?
