iOS 5 AVRCP is it version 1.3?

Does the final iOS 5 for iPhone and iPad have Bluetooth AVRCP 1.3 support? Supposedly the betas have/had it. I have a Kenwood DDX418 car stereo that according to the owner's manual supports AVRCP 1.3 that enables showing tag info like artist, song, album info. I have my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 updated to iOS 5 but the song info doesn't seem to be tranmitting so I'm wondering if the AVRCP is still at 1.0. Thanks.

I got a Sony MEX-BT3000P ($130 single DIN radio) to replace the Kenwood DDX-418 that got stolen out of my car last year and the metadata actually shows up with my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 running iOS 5.1 while being sync'd via Bluetooth A2DP. I can see the track name, artist, and album on the display. This was a complete surprise to me and I was not expecting it since this data didn't show up on the $500 double DIN Kenwood with a display that actually had a specified area on it for metadata to show up. And I don't think I've seen anyone in here say they have seen the data show on their systems via bluetooth either since I started this thread last year. The Kenwood's manual states that AVCRP 1.3 is supported if the device supports it so I had to assume that iOS was NOT supporting 1.3 and of course all this time there has been no official word at all from Apple whether it's there or not. I had iOS 5.01 back in November when my Kenwood was stolen so I don't know if iOS 5.1 has anything to do with it or not, I doubt it though.

Well I still don't know if iOS 5.1 has AVCRP 1.3 or not but I am seeing track info on this Sony unit, and I'm only connected via bluetooth, I do not have a USB connection, the radio doesn't have a USB connection. I have not been able to find any bluetooth specs on the sony radio to whether or not 1.3 or 1.4 AVCRP is in it or not. I didn't even realize a 1.4 spec was out, I haven't been keeping up with this since last year.

Go figure?

Hey folks,

I'm picking up a 2012 Mazda 3 sedan GT in about 30 minutes(!), and found this thread in doing some pre-research into pairing my iPhone 4s to play music over bluetooth in the new car.

I'm disappointed to hear about this issue, but am grateful this community is here to share perspectives and try to get things solved...

Just a shot in the dark, but has anyone considered whether this issue is related to the PLAYER being used on their iPhone? I intend to try using the default music player app (and expect it to fail to show track info etc. as described by everyone else), and will then also try playing my music with Soundhound (the only other music playing app I currently have installed).

Any reason to believe this might make a difference? Anyone alreayd tried these/other music playing apps?

Congrats on he new purchase! Did you get the iGT or the sGT? I have the iGT hatchback and love it!

Good theory, but I think it is something with Apple's implementation of AVRCP. When I pair my HP Touchpad to my car, the screen shows something else besides "BT Audio" I forget what exactly, but it always just shows BT Audio when I pair the iPhone. I hope Apple gets this fixed soon... I've had a ticket open since January and still no fix.

Thanks Derek and Philip. I'm in Canada too so I guess my GT is equivalent to the U.S. sGT(?). And I can confirm that song info is not displaying on my MID regardless of music app 😟.

FWIW, I asked my salesman about the BT issue, and he said he's heard that all models will be equipped with more capable BT modules by 2015 but could offer no other insight. Then again, he also told me to drive around with my headlights adjusted to their down-most position, and that my rearview mirror has the HomeLink feature (which it doesn't), so his input is probably pretty meaningless.

Sorry if this is a bit off topic...but while we're talking about the Mazda 3 sound system, can anyone enlighten me regarding what settings I should use (Bose system)? I thought I shouldn't have to play around with bass/treble/fade etc. if the system is set up well to start with, but a quick look online brings many different perspectives. Especially regarding the Bose Audio Pilot and CenterPoint systems. Should I turn these features off for better sound? Anyone know, or know where to find the best advice on this??

Thanks in advance!

Just out of curiosity...I'm wondering exactly what I'm "missing" due to this apparent problem with the Mazda 3 BT module.

For devices/modules that ARE capable of seeing this song metadata on the Mazda display, is is simply a static info screen showing the album/song/artist/track (like when you play an MP3 CD), or are you actually able to navigate the music files on your device (iPhone) via the Mazda controls?

If the former, this is just mildly annoying. If the latter, then add my name to the petition!
