iCloud mail push notification

Spot on, i have been searching these boards for this issue and thought it was just me. This is exactly what is happening to me.

I just hope Apple is aware and working on it. Still have high hopes for iCloud

I wish you guys could give me your secret. All my emails get pushed and picked up by all our iOS devices even after playing around to no avail with Fetch and manual settings. No matter what I do they just keep coming. I only want to see them when I intentionally lauch the Mail app. I tried turning Push off and that works but that removes the devices from the Find My iPhone service.

This doesn't make sense - you want to stop push email but you don't want to turn off push to do it? Huh?

If you don't want the alerts you can go into Settings -> Notifications -> Mail, and Turn Notification Center Off, or set the Alert Style to None.

I can't see why you'd want emails pushed but no alerts - the whole point of Push is to get notifications immediately. If you don't want to be notified, set the email checking to Manual and save battery.

When I got the "incorrect password" alerts, it was because of an iCloud connection problem. It's an indication there is an iCloud issue. I have no idea why it's saying your username/password is incorrect.

Im having huge problems on getting push mail to work as well on my ios5 iphone. Just cant get it to work. I have tried deleting and re-setuping accounts on iphone and on my mac, on mac its working like it should, but cant get it to work with my iphone. MobileMe worked.

For example im away from my mac. Not receiving push mails on my iphone, i thought there is no mail. Get home, log in to my home mac and i receive few mails and stil nothing on my iphone. When i manually refresh mails on my iphone i get them.

My iCloud push is not working, but it's worth noting that push notifications for my Exchange-based account are coming thru fine. So, Exchange push is working.

Im having the same issue with my icloud service...when the app is closed nothing comes through..

i feel that im also having trouble with other push notifications..

I want to have Push on because that's the only way Find My iPhone/Pad will locate those devices. I tried turning Push off because of the constant email alerts especially from these forums but when I went to the Find My iPhone app and on the iCloud site those devices were shown as either off line or with Location services off when everything was on. Also I believe certain other apps require Push to be on for notifications. I've played with the Manual/Fetch settings to no avail, they just keep coming. But I'm going to see if exiting Mail by hitting the minus sign in the recent apps bar will keep the messages from coming in. I only want to see them when I do a manual check. Every time I either check Mail manually or restart the phone all the messages start being pushed and don't stop.

Well, it would be nice if we could get some kind of official response from Apple stating whether its a known issue and its being worked on or something. This is crazy.

Thanks I will try that although I believe the messages still get pushed and picked up, they just may not appear on the lock screen. It doesn't bother me too much but when I'm on the cell network either on my iPhone or Pad I don't want my data plan drained. Although it's interesting that I'm getting my messages pushed no matter what I do and you guys are not getting yours. There is definitely something strange going on.

The messages are still pushed but if you turn off the Alerts (set Alert to None) you shouldn't see any notification on the lock screen, no popups, etc. That should be what you want.

I guess there is no way to push data for Find my iPhone but turn off push for email.

I think if you do the above it will achieve what you want - no email notifications.

I've just been playing with that on my wife's amd my iPhones ( we share an iCloud email account ) that seemed to work until I launched Mail, once launched and closed again all message pop up on screen even though I have Notification Center off for Mail and alerts set to none. With my iPad nothing stops the messages from being pushed and showing on the lock screen. These things are determined to get Push messages and let me know it no matter what.😠

I don't know whether this is a correctable glitch or just something I'm going to have to live with but I've tried every setting possible for three days and I've been whipped.

Exactly same issues here. Glad I'm not the only one. Missed loads of emails this weekend.

Hoping Apple sort it fast.
