iCloud control panel server error

I can't sign into the iCloud control panel on Windows 7. It keeps saying " can't sign in because of server error". How can this be fixed?

In response to my posts here: ISSUE SOLVED FOR "Der automatische Refresh konnte nicht gestartet werden". Had to uninstall Outlook 2007 and to do this, you need the original Outlook disk. I would recommend saving your PST file (this way you'll still have all of your Calendar events, contacts, email, etc) move it to a new folder you create on your desktop and then re-install Outlook 2007. Then move your PST file back into where you'd like it stored (in my case, I use Dropbox to sync my Outlook emails for home/work, so that's where i plant my PST file). This finally worked for me.

First time poster, hopefully I am doing it right. I solved this problem! Took three days reading everything i could find on the net and speaking with apple a few times.

1. There are a number of problems not all of which are the same.

2. Mine was the error "can't sign in because of server error"

3. Windows 7 64 bit, acer laptop, fresh install with very few things else installed.

4. Avg, Net Nanny, iTunes, Pidgen, picassa, chrome, openoffice

5. Tried all the fixes, netsh, uninstall itunes, icloud, reinstall them, new user account, selective startup etc, nothing worked.

6. My problem was net nanny and even when doing a selective startup and disabling net nanny i could not log in to icloud in the control panel.

7. I was about to uninstall it figuring it was the problem as google had suggested other parenting software as the problem and removal of same fixing the problem.

8. instead of uninstalling i search net nanny itself and there was an exemption option where i could choose .exe programs to completely exclude from net nanny.

9. Located where iCloud.exe was stored and added it to the net nanny exception list and voila! problem was solved and I can log into the iCloud control panel now finally.

10. My conclusion from the last 3 days, anyone having the error i did has a program conflict with iCloud, start with the most obvious and work your way down the list uninstalling and rebooting as you go. Painfull but effective.

11. Now I have shared ad done my part, ayone wish to email Net nanny and tell them about it? 🙂

12. APPLE for ^&%% sakes read this stuff, add it to your tech support level one lists of information so that you can actually help people who contact you 🙂

Yep - NetNanny was why mine was failing, too. On Windows 7, iCloud.exe is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services ... I added iCloud.exe and for good measure also iCloudServices.exe and restarted iCloud.exe, and it immediately worked.

Thanks, fluffdevil!

Apple - please document this, or better yet, have iCloud warn me when installing about the conflict.

I am running Windows7/64 bit. I had a problem with iTunes not detecting my iPad2 until I went into msconfig and enabled 'Apple Mobile Device' in Services.. please bear with me and read on.

I had previously given up on the iCloud Control Panel and uninstalled it but decided this morning to give it another go to see whether it was the same problem.

I have reinstalled iCloud Control Panel and it is now working (apparently perfectly, time will tell, but it has uploaded my data).

For anyone unfamiliar with msconfig Start/type msconfig in search box/click msconfig.exe/in Services tab tick 'Apple Mobile Device', re-boot. It might work for you too.

The correct answer did not work for me. Windows 7 64 bit. Had the problem pop up on office network after no problems for months. I tried many suggestions that supposedly would fix the error. Uninstalled Hotspot Shield proxy and ripped it out of the network interface card as well and stamped out all vestiges of it everywhere. All to no avail. Then I moved to a different network about an hour later and lo and behold iCloud control panel accepted my login credentials. I noticed that when it was not working on the other network, that an incorrect password would cause the server error message to appear immediately, while the correct password would cause the wheel to spin for a while and then return the error. This leads me to suspect that it is an issue on the iCloud server. Apple, in this instance, in my opinion, needs to retrain some engineers for not fixing this. It is almost as if they want us to buy an Apple computer and exit Windows. In fact, because of iWorks and iCloud, I will be doing that - buying an Apple next hardware upgrade and running Windows virtually if ever needed. I wonder if the error ever occurs when running Windows on a virtual machine like Parallels or VMWare. If no one has had the experience that way, then that would make me suspicious. Otherwise, I was stuck in a parallel universe where the bug was happening and now have shifted throught the M Verse back into the working mode. Good luck to all. Try logging in control panel on another network.
