iCloud .me email not pushing to iOS 5 devices

First off, if this is a repeat post please direct me to the existing conversation. As I could not find one I wanted to know if anyone is having an issue with iCloud email being pushed to iOS 5 devices? It seems like the push feature only works when the email app is running in the background and even then it runs very slow. Does anyone know if this is a glitch within iOS5, a server issue, settings issue, etc?

I have already tried deleting the account and re-adding it and various other "fixes" but to no avail. I remember the horrendous rollout of MobileMe and I have a feeling that this is simply more of the same.

Again, spotty results. Mine usually happen in the mornings. I wake up, mail app is running in the background but I have no new emails until I reopen the app, then they all come in. I'm wondering if there is a timeout for inactivity. Once the initial push happens, it works fine for a while. Seems if I don't get any for a while, it "breaks".

I am glad that we are all having this conversation and for the most part it seems like everyone is pretty much having the same problem: Push email comes when the email app is running but the moment it is closed it seems the .api or some other command function shuts down and push no longer gets through. This would seem to be a problem with the Mail app in iOS5 more than iCloud or Hotmail or Yahoo being pushed properly to the iPhone. As we have all stated push works just fine in Mail in OSX so it would seem to be an issue with Mail in iOS5 only. I am certain Apple must be aware of this issue and will hopefully be fixed with the first iOS5 software update.

Well, my push issue seems to have been solved. For the last few days my emails have been pushed, and since I turned mail notifications on, I've been getting them pretty consistently. That said, I now have hour-long stretches where I can't open my emails. At all. iCloud's pushing them, I just can't open them on my 4s. It'll connect for about 15 minutes, then it stops working again. Ridiculous.

Definitely seems to be a bug with iOS 5. Push email has not worked correctly ever since I migrated my mobile me account.

Lets hope Apple issue a software update soon!

In addition to having this problem both on my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 for mail, I cannot seem to get any of the calendars to sync, either via iCloud or direct. I used to do it directly before IOS5 but that wont work either. Very annoying.

Well, I was pushing most of the day. Then I went about an hour without checking it. I should have known better. I had an email from 5 minutes after I last checked it. Over an hour old by the time it popped up when I checked manually. This is nuts.

Hello, same problem here, I'm kinda geek, so I tried every solution I may find, and none of them was correct... I think we have nothing more to do than waiting for Apple to do something... I think with iOS 5 we have problems about the Mail Push, but also with Apps like Facebook, Twitter, etc

I'm not that happy, when my iPhone isn't working like I want!

i wanted to subscribe to this thread via emails, but i wount get them until i manually check for them.. fail.

i was able to do a real dirty fix... force quit the mail app, within iOS5, and it seems to restore PUSH for email. atleast temporarily for me atleast.

Turning off my iPhone 3GS and turing it on a few minutes later worked. I can now read my emails on my iPhone. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes! It worked for me too, I turned off my iPhone for an hour or so, then when I turned it on, everything was working fine. I already turned it off before, but maybe I didn't wait enough...

Worked for me too. But after a few hours it doesn't work again. It needs a real fix.

Apple is ignoring this issue - here's a bump to hope they step up.

(My iCloud email only pushes when the Mail app is open or in the background)

Yeah, just missed a push from my GF. She ended up texting me after I didn't reply. Worthless right now.
