my songs sound distorted on Itunes 10.5 HELP

I think there are several problems about iTunes 10.5 and iOS 5. One is that the sound quality of iPhone and iPod updated iOS 5 is deteriorated massively. This problem may be fixed by the gianni nyc’s report. I had also same experience and it was solved by similar operations.

But there is still another problem that iTunes 10.5 on AMD Athlon XP PCs cannot play mp3 music correctly. This problem has not been solved yet. I think this problem is caused by unsupported of SSE2/SSE3 instructions on my AMD CPU. This problem can not be fixed until the new version of iTunes will be released.

Also having the same problem as the rest of you guys. Similar set-up with AMD processor and running Windows XP. I am astounded that there hasn't been any official response from Apple about this.

Perhaps a: "We are aware of this issue and are in the process of resolving"?? - Obviously far too difficult to let their customers know.

Mp3 files sound distorted as described by others posts.

They sound perfect in Ipod Iphone or with other software (like Vlc Media player,quicktime), they sounded perfectly with Itunes 10.4

I am not going to downgrade. I wait until Apple find a solution.

Happt yo know that the problem affected other users.

Spoke to a senior adviser. He knew of the problem, because he's in the same boat, with the 20,000+ mp3s in his library unplayable. He said engineers were working on it, but he didn't know about the AMD connection, so I pointed him the all the discussions, and he said he'd pass that on. I'm hoping for fix soon, as he said to call back Monday if nothing shows up by then.

I tried gianni nyc's instructions and it did not resolve my issue. Thanks for trying though.

my friend dad works at a apple store and got his fixed computers running with an amd cpu and windows xp, vista and windows 7 uninstall everything to do with itunes but keep ur itunes back up folder that has ur games/app etc safe onthe computer or copy to an usb hard drive

redownload itunes 10.5 again and he should fix it.

Okay! I'm too lazy after trying so many things already. Plus the instructions are really bad. Can someone try his and let us know if it works. AMD and XP here too.

It's not just Windows with AMD chips.

I have a new iMac with an Intel Core i5. All my old music is okay, but I can't import or play any CDs through iTunes 10.5 without horrible distortion.

No, it's not limited to AMD and Windows. I have a new iMac Intel Core i5 running OS X 10.7.2, and can't even play a CD through iTunes 10.5 without massive distortion. Tried various import settings, but none work.

That's right, it is not limited to AMD. I have a Dell Inspiron with Intel Pentium and since updating iTunes to 10.5 I am having audio problems. Oddly, it is not isolated to iTunes. It doesn't matter what audio it is every 30 seconds, like clockwork, there is a 1-2 second buzz that sounds like a decoding error. It happens during windows OS Sounds and when playing music through iTunes. You can watch the playback time and it is exactly 30 seconds.

This did not change anything...music still sounds just as bad

If your problem is that mp3 files play tinny and badly distorted, but m4a files play just fine, then you might want to just wait for a fix.

Spoke to a Support senior adviser on Friday. He said Apple is aware of the problem, and he has on his home PC. He said the engineers were not aware of the connection to AMD processors, as described in this and other discussions. He said he would pass that along, and to give him a call Monday if no fix had been pushed out by then.

No luck calling Apple support here. I have found that the same songs that are being distorted by Itunes, upload (thru sync application) & play fine on Iphone 4. The common issue with the distorted songs are that they are all mp3's. Will be interested how much longer a fix is puhsed out...
