Sync iCal with iCloud Calendar

None of my appointments in iCal show up in my iCloud Calendar. In fact my iCloud Calendar has no appointments in it. I am sure I screwed something up in the coversion and trying to remove all the duplicate entries. In any event, how do I go about syncing forcing the appointments in iCal to show up in iCloud Calendar.

I got my contacts to work by simply turning the cloud off, and then back on again. From Systems Preference>iCloud, turn address book off. It will ask if you want to keep or delete contacts, I think I said keep. It took a while--I have almost 3,000, but once it killed it, I turned it back on. Once again it took a while but when it came back up, it appears now to be working correctly. iCal is a lttle different story. I turned that off and then on. When it came up it said it was reconstructing (or something like that) my calendars, and ran FOREVER. I've ended up force quitting it three or four times now because it just runs and runs, hextupling all my calendar entries, like it's caught in an infinite loop. Gotta figure that one out.

I don't claim to be an expert. My more common problem is having multiples of Tripit events show up on my calendars, which I attribute to subscribing to tripit on my iphone, ipad, and mbp, then having them all duplicate in the sky and come back as multiples on my devices. I am trying to just "subscribe" to tripit web calendar itself through my mbp, then access all that data through the cloud from the other devices.

You ought to make sure that on your ipad and iphone, on the "calendars" display pane, that your tripit calendar is checked. If not, "check" it. And maybe make sure in your ipad and iphone "settings">"mail, contacts, calendars", make sure "push" is on, or "fetch" is set to some short interval.

Hi,

I am going totally nuts trying to have icloud work. So here's the setting if anyone can help I'd be grateful:

I have an iphone and a macbook. I have two emails address one being gmail. I don't want to use icloud for mails because the synchronization already works independtly from icloud BUT I can't seem to get iCal right. On icloud.com and my macbook it is the same calendar but it doesn't merge/update with the one on my iphone. I have added things on my iphone ical but it doesn't appear on the macbook ical nor icloud ical.

Thank you for helping out !

First, make sure on the settings on your iphone are correct. From the main screen on your iPhone calendar, touch the upper left <Calendars> button. Make sure "All iCloud" is check marked (to the right of the "all iCloud" text. If it is not, touch it to activate the check mark. Touch <done> in the upper right hand corner. That may help.

If it does not, go to <settings> app on your iPhone. Make sure the "Account" field has the same name and login information that you are using on your macbook. Touch the "account" field, and type your password into the <password> field. Touch <done> in the upper right corner of the screen.

Make sure "Calendar" is turned on with the slide "on/off" button, and "contacts", "reminders", while you are at it. Touch settings to return. Hopefully iCloud is now working.

If not, go back into <settings> <iCloud>, and turn <iCloud> off and then back on.

you should not have to plug in the iphone, or respect any "distance". If you don't see your MBP calendar entries on the iPhone, I'd try turning off iCloud on your phone, From the Settings app, move the Calendar's on/off slide to off. It will ask if you want to delete your calendars on your iphone. I'd try to "keep on my iphone". then go back into settings and turn iCloud back on, by pushing the on/off slide to on.

From MaxGuru

"I had this issue on my iMac and fixed it by:

1. Import my calendars into iCal from my backup .ics files

2. Go to System Preferences>iCloud and deleted my iCloud account

3. Added my iCloud account back in the iCloud Prefs pane

4. Select Merge when asked what to do with calendars

5. Calendars will now be back on iCal and in the iCloud"

This is a lot easier than the other solution and it worked for me but I didn't have a previous mobile me account
