Iphone 3GS slow after update to iOS 5

My wife has a 3Gs and after reading this thread I had her turn off the iCloud and it works as good as before the upgrade to iOS5. She can't use iCloud, but who cares? Do this and it will solve the problem.

Same fix, turned off all notifacations and icloud see performance has returned to normal... I wish there is a way to downgrade back to 4.3.3 or 4.3.5 without ssh blob. Anyone have any ideas or info on downloading.

I checked off all spotlight items (since I never use Spotlight on my iphone) and the speed is back as it used to be, so Matrix X2, I think iOS5 should be running smoothly, even on an iPhone 3GS. Apple, please solve this problem for those who do use Spotlight!

Thanks for the idea but turning off iCloud isn't an option - we rely on the syncing for calendars etc. It was fine with MobileMe.

Hmm, if it's Spotlight, maybe the problem eventually goes away after it's finished indexing?

Not looking for a fix from Apple, just downgrade information keep getting "not correct build errors" has anyone thought of a downgrade fix from 5.0/5.0.1 to 4.3.3 or 4.3.5? thanks

I just bought a 3gs one week ago and its system is 5.0. It is much slower than my wife's 3gs (didn't upgrade) bought one year ago. What the **** apple is doing? If the new version makes the phone slow, why not keep the old model with the old version software?

Did the Genius Bar associate state what the cause was or if there is an upcoming fix?

Count me as another 3GS user who has seen performance drop since iOS 5.

I've turned off iCloud except for Calendar as suggested and so far so good.

But I WANT iCloud! Apple, please fix and do use the courtesy of actually acknowledging this is a problem (as you did for the battery issues).

Im a Iphone 3gs user and im suffering the same issue with ios 5! Im going to look into rolling back versions.. Its slow.. ill swipe to unlock and it will lag.. and when you lock your phone it used to make that clicking noise instantly now it takes about 15-20 seconds for that noise.. huge lag! also.. playing music its lagged and bugged its saying its playing a song but infact is playing a completly different song.. ***! ill start wrting a message and it will lag and ill have to wait about 10 seconds for it to catch itself back up again.. pain in the ***! Ive disabled all icloud stuff.. i admit it made a difference... but still.. I loved apple products.. but this is seriously making me think about switching to a droid phone... apple.... YOU SUCK!

The OS X version isuk dependent of the iOS version so I don't think that will do it for you.
