Iphone 3GS slow after update to iOS 5

After updated to iOS 5 my Iphone 3GS became generel slow.

Graphics and starting apps are slow. Some apps have now up to 10-15 seconds start time.

I thought closing the Iphone and restart clould help, but NO.

Yeah, like OS windows upstarts. 😁

Ok. processor not the same as new Iphone 4s.

I started to regret my update to iOS5.

polarbreeze1, you can write whatever you want. You can say it's the best upgrade ever seen. But please, show us some respect and don't call yourself "the voice for silent majority", or if you do, then show us the survey results where it says that happy 3gs owners with iOS 5.0.1 are the "majority".

This post makes clear that a lot of 3gs owners have now a brick on their hands because of the upgrade, and a responsible company should solve this issue, as we are all customers here and THEIR upgrade ruined OUR devices. So, we are victims here of the company policy that don't let users decide which iOS works ok with their devices. I repeat, APPLE SCREWED UP OUR DEVICES.

The solution is simple. Sign the downgrade of 3GS owners, develop a tool to let them roll back their devices to iOS 4, or at least email their devices SHSH signatures so they can downgrade (using software that is already available) and have a great phone again.

I'm one of the loudy minority.

we all need to stop quivering over this topic it is simple, apple provided an update where the 3GS meets the requirements but not the usability, that is the issue...

This forum if for 3GS users experincing this issue and asking Apple for assistance, so far on deaf ears...

what would be best is allow up to downgrade back to 4.3.5 or provide a fix for upcoming iOS 5.0.1

any other comments other than the true nature and intent of this forum, should be not posted or withdrawn. In respect for the owners of this issued 3GS devices.

Honeycroft, this isn't personal. I am fully awake and my 3GS is running iOS5 perfecty well. It's important for people to know that kind of information because it shows that the 3GS platform is perfectly capable of running iOS5. However, some people are running into problems after they upgrade. This points to specific bugs of some sort - which Apple certainly should feel obligated to fix (even though it impacts only a small minority of upgraders). All I'm saying is that is counterproductive for people to generalize the specific minority issues into a general claim that iOS5 is too heavy for 3GS, which simply isn't true. It's counterproductive because it's asking Apple to solve the wrong problem - if we want them to listen we have to be giving them facts to work with.

Just bought my iPad 2 running ios 5 so figured I would run the iphone 3 gs with ios 5.0.1

No problems with speed the iphone 3 gs works great, just that my photos won't sync now. Can't seem to figure out why. only the photos taken by the iphone are syncing on the ipad and the ipone. Go figure. Discussion of that issue

applies to my 3 gs as well....

I mean hundreds of posts (but it feels like hundreds on threads). these threads have been running for months. no one from Apple has actually replied. They dont care.

Well done to the two people who are chuffed with their IOS5 working 3GS phones. For the rest of us it is slow, sluggish and downright crap. Anyone who has tried the excellent 4S model will realise that the 3GS is prehistoric. Its like trying to enter a Ford Focus car in formula one up against the Red Bulls and Maclarens. it cant cope and gets left behind in the pits!!

So if anyone from Apple is actually bothering to follow this forum.....how about a reply about the fix or just admit nothing will be done?

on a side note, how painful is it to add to a thread. i have to log in each time and then go back to my email notification to find the discussion.

Feb 20, 2012 6:02 AM in response to darklomba

darklomba, the point I am trying to make to you is that if you have experienced specific problems upgrading your 3GS to iOS5, there is something very specific and focused that has gone wrong. You need to get Apple's help to fix that one way or another. You will not get anywhere by trying to generalize that specific to appear like there's an overall problem with iOS5/3GS - because really that's not the case.

Feb 20, 2012 6:55 AM in response to Honeycroft

This is a user forum provided by Apple to let users share problems and solutions. I had a problem with 5.0.0 on my 3GS but managed to make it usable again by disabling Calendar Notifications. The 5.0.1 update fixed that problem and it's been working ever since.

For those still having problems I'd suggest sending Apple feedback directly at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

thank you David. At last someone with an ounce of decency provides a method of detailing this common fault to apple. I dropped Apple an email and got this reply.
