Find My Mac turned on, but not showing on iCloud.com

I just updated to 10.7.2, without noticing any issues during the install process, and turned on Find My Mac. As an iOS developer I've had an iCloud account setup for quite some time now...

When I go to Find My iPhone on iCloud.com I see all of my iOS devices listed as always, but for the life of me I can't get my MacBook Pro to show up in the list.

I've tried fixing disk permissions and have also verified the disk. I have even tried booting into the recovery partition to repair the disk and everything was ok.

I also noticed that the MobileMe preference pane is still available oddly enough. I don't think it's supposed to be right?

Am I missing something here? Has anyone else run into this? I'm about ready to try re-installing Lion but I'd really like to avoid it if possible.

Here's the solution, Log in to you iCloud from the "System Preferences" on your Mac or MacBook(pro and etc.) Then check again if thats listed or no.

This will work. Don't forget to come back and Mark ad HELPFUL 🙂

I can't get my MacBook Pro to show up in the list.

Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on on the MBPro.

"you'll be familiar with how Find My Mac works. You can locate your device on a map with a fairly reasonable degree of precision, assuming it's connected to Wi-Fi."

Thanks for your reply Carolyn. Wi-Fi is definitely on and it's still not showing in my devices list on iCloud. I've even tried a few different networks as well.

im having the same issue...anyone have an answer please? my macbook pro is an older 2.33 ghz model but still this is strange.

Mine is an older MBP as well. It's a a MacBook Pro 2,2 to be specific, the 2.16Ghz model.

I hope this isn't an older machine issue....that would be outrageous.

I also see the daemon process running, so as much as I can figure it *should* be working??

Same issue here for my 2,2 model MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz.

Have tried the suggested fixes listed at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3397986 without any luck.

When trying to apply the RecoveryHDUpdate.dmg patch myself, as listed in that thread, I also had the "Lion Recovery Update can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirement for this update" result.

My 2010 Mac Mini, 2010 MacBook Air, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 all show up in Find My iPhone/ Mac correctly, just not my 2,2 MacBook Pro.

All the same for me too. 😟

I tried everithing, for days, but nothing.

Maybe this hardware is not fully compatible or meybe there's a bug someware.

I have FileVault enabled, maybe this could be the problem, but I'm not sure.

I have no solution to the problem 😟 even though I know of it. I have a Wifi IPad 2, that shows up nicely in the list, but my macbook pro 15" from around 2008 (i think) does not (not even without a location). It seems wierd as they both (to my knowledge) use local wifi-locations, to determine their position...

I've looked around a bit for a solution (changing some network settings etc.), but all the solutions are replies to people who have problems with determining the position of their device, when they are in the device list...

I've noticed a few wierd things as well....

- I've tried changing locations by taking my laptop to a nearby coffee shop....still couldn't locate it.

- When you go into the date and time settings in system preferences, the laptop WILL locate itself based on wifi to determine which timezone it's in. It EVEN correctly names the city (Fort Wayne, IN).

- The only application I have that uses wifi positioning is iStumbler and it shows up in Security & Privacy as a location service AND it correctly locates my laptop

- I have an iPad 2, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 in the house. ALL devices show up in Find My iPhone, both on icloud.com and in their respective iOS apps and can be located when on my home network.

This has to be an issue with my laptop in some way. Find My Mac appears to be turned on and as if it should be functioning. My disk doesn't need repaired. I can't re-install the recovery partition because I get the ineligible warning in the installer when I attempt to. For that matter, I've never had the "you need a recovery partition for Find My Mac to work" problem that seems to be so common.

I'm at a loss. If my laptop is incompatible (which seems crazy but I can see Apple doing it), I REALLY wish they'd at least say so.

From my understanding any Mac running 10.7.2 should be able to use this service.

Does anyone know how we can report this issue to Apple Support? I went most of the way through the Apple 'Express Lane' process but stopped before I had to pay for a "single support incident".

Same issue with my older MBP. My iMacs, iPad and iPhone show up just fine, but no MacBook Pro. Lets hope there will soon be an update to fix (hint, hint, Apple...).

I also have a white macbook purchased with Lion installed, with the same problem. Both my iPad 2 and iPod show up when accessing Find my iPhone but the laptop does not. Having a handful of quirky issues I run across that seem to be popular problems on here with few answers, ugh.
