I want my home screen to be app-free. Possible?

I realize that in many ways I'm not exactly normal and maybe I should seek professional help. And that might be why I prefer to have my home screen devoid of apps. An empty home screen has worked great for me until IOS 5. Now, if I sync or power-cycle my iPhone, the blank home screen is gone and the next screen has become my new home screen. Is there a way to keep the home screen empty as shown below? Does anybody else care?User uploaded file

You're not alone in this. I used to have a blank screen with just the 4 major functions in the lower portion for my home screen. What's the point in having a background if you can't exactly see it? Unfortunately I doubt apple even cares enough to reinstate this "bug" - as apparently it was a bug for the ios 4.?.? version(s). I'm also a bit annoyed at the fact that I can no longer delete icons from the ios 5.0.1 version as I find many of them useless. I'm regretting the upgrade already.

I don't think people would buy a phone with a big screen, if they didn't care about what's displayed on it. So yes, you are not the only one with this problem. And yet there's still no fix to this? I would certainly want to see an easier way to get by this besides dragging all your apps to other pages one-by-one each time you boot your device.

Now that I'm at it, an android-style panoramic, scrolling wallpaper effect would be nice too...A company like Apple shouldn't just ignore visuality like this!
