iPhone 4S screen tint

Got a new iPhone 4S this morning, and when I put it next to my old iPhone 4 I discovered the screen was much 'nicer' on the old iPhone. When I say nicer, its kind of got a really yellow tint to the screen on the 4S, whites are where you notice it the most for example the email looks far nicer on the iPhone 4 screen. All other colours look quite washed out. Anyone else got this problem?

I went to an Apple store in Chicago, they did agree to exchange one and I got another one there, but the screen is depressingly yellow, perhaps marginally better. The store refuses to try another phone. And meanwhile, every other iPhone 4S in the store including 2-3 phones the employees there were using to compare with mine have brighter white screens. The serial number of my new one starts with C, the one I returned is D. Once they explain to me that they can't try another phone, the "nice" young lady manager turned cold and disconcerning. I feel bad for someone who can exhibit such attitude towards another human being. I am very unhappy about the phone. The display is dingy, I don't know if I can get used to it. The Apple store said that well, the phone is working, display differences are not defects. My response is if I need a working phone, I wouldn't buy an iPhone Where is the pride that Apple supposedly has to deliver quality product?! Come to think of it, I spent more more money on Apple product than probably any other single thing besides house and car, very disappointed that they don't seem to have the will to make their customer happy. Their attitude is more to try to get you out of their way.

Just got my iPhone 4S 3 days ago from mobily in Saudi Arabia. My dad got a black one and i got a white one. The white one's screen is quite yellowish compared to the black one's screen. and both of them are yellowish compared to an iPhone 4 screen (the black is a bit better though). Ive been using my phone on full brightness for about 2 days now and I dont know if Im getting used to it or what, but it certainly looks a bit better. it is definately better than the black one now (which means that there is improvement.) I think a week or two more on full brightness and it will be fine 🙂 other than that, im in love with my iPhone 4S <3 Wish apple could take care of the quality next iPhone though.

Just keep exchanging until you get a clear one. I went through three replacements but I finally got a nice clear one. All of my phones where white iphone 4s on sprint with serials DNP. The first iphone was obviously yellow with the bottom of the screen always dimmer than the rest. Second replacement was less yellow but everything was always washed out. I showed the genius bar employees and they were really rude to me. I went to a sprint store and they were like "that's not normal, lets get you a replacement." The third phone, that I have now, is just as clear as my old iphone 4 on att. If you do exchange just ask if you can see the phone before they process everything. Also, the battery on the first iphone was crap and would count down like a timer. Apple just trying to hold everyone out pass the 14 days so your stuck with it. The apple store was a lot nicer way back when I bought my ibook. The screens of every iphone do vary so you just have to find one your happy with and don't believe the yellow will go away crap. I have an old ipod touch that is still as yellow as the day I bought it years ago.

Received my second white iPhone 4s and it was a lot worse than my first phone. Plus this phone vibrates really loudly.

I called apple and they are sending my third iPhone 4s. I hope I luck out and get one without issues... I was quite upset and asked them to check the phone before they ship it. I hope it works.

At least I can say their customer service is awesome. I haven't had a bad experience talking to them yet.

Apple, seriously you have to sort this out.

"The sharpest, most vibrant thing you’ll see on iPhone 4S is everything. The Retina display is the highest-resolution phone screen ever. In fact, the pixel density is so high that the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels. But without a doubt, you’ll notice crisp text, sharp graphics, and stunning images. It’s more remarkable than the printed page. And you’ll be completely absorbed."

All of the above I can accept, having had iPhones since the first one were launched, however, one thing I don't is the FACT that both my Black 4s and my partners White 4s screens are yellow this therefore eradicates the statement your making regarding it being the most vibrant thing you'll ever see on your phone.

Both are going back today and I hope and prey with fingers crossed I get a crisp white screen as I have always had in the past.

Got an email this morning telling me that my iphone 4S #7 as been shipped. If this one is yellowish, I'll be returning it just like the other 6 and will NOT purchase another and stick with my iphone 4. This is not good for Apple and they don't care about us, they just care about our money. So many iphone 4Ss with yellowish-washed out screens, doesn't look good. I wonder if the iphone 5 will have the same issues. I saw the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus the other day, what a beautiful 4.6" 1280 x 720 resolution screen. Makes the iphone 4s look like garbage. I don't think Apple will fix this screen issue. They will never admit to it. I called them several times and was told that it was the first time they heard of it. I think they were told to play dumb. I even emailed Tim Cook (CEO) and got a reply back a person in the Corporate Executive Relations whom stated they she never heard of the issue. If this #7 iphone as issues, I quit. to pay over $800 and play the 'Order-return" game, it's a waste of time. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone.

Very good point above.

It's really strange that Apple does not admit "yellow gate" but all of theirs iPhones 4s on a display pannel have perfect screens with no yellow tint.. Is it the way the cheat on people? What makes me really frustrated is that they don't hear us and don't care about us..

And there a lot of other things I don't like, beginning form arrogant attitude of "geniuse bar" nerds to Apple making customers to wait in a long many hours queue on the day of release of idevices JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE ADVERTISING THEIR PRODUCTS THIS WAY, by making people stand like sheeps and putting photos of the queue to newspapers and Internet. Did anyone ever wander why they don't start selling idevices on the day of release in regular way like "reserve-collect"? Because they use your suffering in a queue in advertising purposes.

They just don't care, all they need is your money.

UPDATE # 6

Well i am very upset with apple to say the least! I have received another replacement phone from apple and it still has a yellow screen. I called apple again and they told me that they would not send me anymore replacement phones and will I just have to deal with the screen tint.

Apple does not care about there customers being happy. This is very clear to me now!

I have wasted tons of gas, time and energy and got no ware with this.

Thanks for sticking me with this POS phone apple.

Don't give up and allow them to treat you this way. I purchased 6 iphone 4Ss outright now and they all had a screen issue. Number 7 is now on its way by FedEx and if there's a screen issue with it, I'll return it and I'm done. No more wasting time and energy. This is not good for Apple. Seems like they really don't care. The Samsung nexus is looking better each day. Both my kids have a Blackberry Torch 9810 and the screen is beautiful and I can't even luck out after 6 iphones. What is that all about!! Call back again and tell them that there is a problem with the buzzer (vibrator) or the camera and you should be able to get it replaced. However, the replacement maybe worse than the current one. I had the same issue with my iphone 4 but ended up talking to a supervisor. Good Luck.
