iPhone 4S screen tint

Got a new iPhone 4S this morning, and when I put it next to my old iPhone 4 I discovered the screen was much 'nicer' on the old iPhone. When I say nicer, its kind of got a really yellow tint to the screen on the 4S, whites are where you notice it the most for example the email looks far nicer on the iPhone 4 screen. All other colours look quite washed out. Anyone else got this problem?

Received my 7th iphone 4S today and guess what, it's also yellowish. I've given up and not going to waste anymore money, time and energy. I'll stick with my iphone 4 and wait to see if the iphone 5 is any better. Apple attempted to replace my iphone 4 twice due to a home button issue and both of them were yellowish (very yellow) also. I decided to keep my old iphone 4 and replace the home button myself (works great now). So it seems like it's not just the 4S. It's sad when you order an iphone 4S 7 times and every one of them having a screen issue. Is it bad luck or bad manufacturing? My luck as ran out and I'm sending this iphone back and no more orders.

Hi guys, I just wanted to tell my story as well. First off I've read all the posts on the yellow screen tint issue with the 4s on these forums and all of your replies have been helpful. I ordered my iphone 4s black 64 gig on Dec 1, 2011 and recieved it approximately Dec 21, 2011. Serial number starts with C39. At first I did not noticed the yellow tint until browsing some of these forums and then picking up on this thread. I immediately went to the basement and dug up my Iphone 4. The difference is night and day my iphone 4 is very cool blue where as my 4s is of the warmer yellow tint. Although i should note it is much lighter yellow than some of your pics on these threads. So I call apple customer care and get mike on the phone. I told him my issues with the screen and horrendous battery life. He puts me on hold and then comes back reading from an article evidently from there engineers? He tells me its a known issue and states i need to wait 30-45 days for screen burn in and it will go away. I told him ive never heard of that long a period to burn in a screen. I then ask him to set me up with an appointment with the genius at a local apple store and i have an appointment for saturday at 2pm. I asked him when i get there those brown boxed phones they allow u to switch out to are they refurbs? he tells me no! He goes on to say that they are direct from the manufacturer but have not been used. I then say to him ok what do u guys do with all your iphone returns throw them out? he didnt have an answer for that lol. So my dilema is i just spent 400 on a 4s and I would prefer not to get a refurb as a replacement any thoughts?

If you bought it online the Genius Bar will only confirm the problem like what happened with me and they told me to deal with my problem with appleonline , any way i did a refund i waited for a month and went to apple store i talked to a guy about the yellow tint and he allowed me to open 2 iphone4s befor paying anything and both have a yellow tint and completly diffrent screen from the 4s demo in store , so i gave up , no more 4s till they fix the problem.

Hi Dustin,

I got an exchange for my 4s from my carrier in th UAE but still the yellow tint is there but comparatively whiter than the earlier one.I again approached them and now they want me to send it to the doctors to fix it. Have you or anybody following this thread had his/her 4s screen fixed and satisfied with the outcome? Or may be some tecnically sound expert can guide me whether I should allow the carrier to tamper with my otherwise OK phone.

I would appreciate guidance.

Thanxxxx!

i just went a cpl of rounds with c-spire wireless over this yellow fever that my white 4s 64gb had. i bought the phone on december 16th as an upgrade to the 16gb att iphone 4 that i have. i took the phone back on the 19th to talk to the ppl @ c-spire about the yellow thing that was bothering the **** outta me. we compared my screen to some that were on display and some of the employee 4s models. none of the phones we compared to my phone had the same issue as i was having. the salesperson talked me into holding off one more week before exchanging to see if the issue would clear itself up. i waited my week, while using apps that keep the screen on for hours at a time. i used the garmin app for about 8 hours, and still had the yellow fever. on the 26th of december, i took the phone back for an exchange and when they girl started the new phone up, it had the same issue as the phone i was returning. at that point, before i even took possession of the new phone, i told them i just wanted to return everything and cancel my service. the store manager, who conveniently didnt see the yellow tint took over from there. the manager went on to tell me about apple's special procedures about iphone returns and exchanges. mr manager told me about how apple wasn't about to eat $1700 worth of phones over something the he didnt even notice on my phone. i told him i didn't care what he noticed or not b/c i saw it and was not satisfied with the phones. the manager eventually agreed to return the phone but insisted on charging me an the e.t.f. i was not about to pay an e.t.f. over something i wasnt happy with and only had for TEN days. the manager went to the back to supposedly call someone and ended up sending the original girl back out to give me my money back. the girl seemed to imply that this yellow fever is a known issue but didnt know much else about it. so, i ended up getting my money back, but i have a weird feeling the whole e.t.f. thing might not be over. we will see...

I have this problem with my iPhone 4S, too. However, mine isn't "Yellow" so to speak, it's a more "warm"ish tint. It's a black model - 16GB. I've heard that it might be something to do with the glue drying/curing (this can take up to 30-45 days??) I'm not sure. I can only notice the colour difference when I compare my iPhone to my iPod Touch 4. However, it would be nice if Apple included some sort of colour calibration to the iPhone so that people who don't like cool/blue tints can change it to warm/yellow tints and people who don't like warm/yellow tints can change it to cool/blue. Personally, I prefer the cool/blue tint -like that of my iPod Touch 4. I'm glad to see this discussion, as I don't feel I'm the only one who has this issue. It's clear to me that Apple has purpously done this. But, why?

I am from the uae too, i had your issue. I went to axiom & they replaced the phone. now the new one does not really show yellow, it is more of an offwhite color not pure white. Today i bought the white iphone for my wife 16 gb as well. Comparing her phone as background & photos closely to my phone i have noticed that she has a an off white screen as well however since her frame is white it seems to make it look more birghter & more lively. Now defintly I would like my screen to look like her's however I guess I will need to wait for an IOS update may be things can get better.

if you do find a solution kindly keep me in the loop.

thanks

Emailed Tim Cook last week regarding the iphone 4 & 4S yellowish and/or washed out screen issues and wasn't expecting a reply back. I did not from Tim but from a lady who works close to him, i was surprised. She even called me today to get some additional information. She had passed my issues to the engineers and the idea of implementing an option to adjust the screen temperature and contrast in settings. I had also provided her with this discussion link and she indicated that she had read all the posts. Now for the big question, will they fix this issue? I sure hope so and just ordered my #8. More direct complaints make cause them to take some serious action.

Same yellow, washed out screen problem here on my 4s 16gb. It's the 3rd replacement in 2 weeks, all with the same yellow screen. I know it's not the same with all units as my flat mate has no yellow screen issue on his 4s and the yellow screen is VERY noticable when I place the phones side by side. Very disappointed and will be returning to Apple store...

Well I am going to email Tim Cook also as this has got to stop!!!!

I am on my 10th replacement iphone. I have been having this problem since October 18th and still have not received a good phone. It really makes me sick that i am getting all these bad phones!! My friends have nice looking 4s iphones.

I am getting no ware with Apple care as they said they will not replce the phone for me any more and i need to just deal with the defective yellow screen.

I am now stuck in a two year contract with att and have been paying $100 a month for 2 months for a sevice i still have not been able to use because of all the defective phones.

I have wasted tons of money on gas and countless hours dealing with this!!

I live here in California and would drive the 3 hours to the apple headquarters in Cupertino if it will help stop this madness.

Email Sent to TIM lets see what happens ?!?!

For me i give up, it already cost me around 200 $ just to get the replacement & guess what!!! TINTED:'(.

I am stuck with the following options only:

1- accepting it & wait/dream of an ios release that might work around it.

2-sell it & loose at least 20% of what i paid then buy again the white one which i don't like, i prefer black.

3-sell it & use a primitive phone as this is really frustrating:(

What do you guys advise!!!!!

& what makes it all worse is that there is no Apple store here in UAE, so those local guys are pretty bad to deal with & don't even give a f**k not to mention a bit ignorant.

Apple am dissappointed, I was thinking of getting an apple TV & mac pro. now Scr*** that i value my money.
