no backups available?

Just got my iphone 4S and when I tried to restore from icloud backup it says no backups available? But, my iphone 4 is on ios5 and i backed it up to icloud yeseterday.


Any ideas? I am at work so I dont want to have to go home and restore from itunes backup

After taking my phone back to apple store, they replaced my 4s. They asked me the usual, have you backed up, i felt secure knowing i backed up 2 hours ago on iCloud.


After i got the new handset, the apple store employee told me to stay in the store if i wanted to make the most of the stores wifi and restore from icloud.


Low and behold i faced the problem of "No Backups Available". The apple store employee had no idea nad was totally unhelpful.


Thankfully, after reading the replies on here, i am currently restoring from iCloud as i type.

It's absolutely ridiculous that Apple don't put that info into the error message. Are people just supposed to intuit this? The information given to you is simply that there are no backups available for this device. It's hardly as though the average consumer's first instinct after reading that is to think, "Oh, I guess I need to update my iOS and then reset the machine, and after that the backup will surely become available..."
