Sound issues using FaceTime on Mac!!

I had been having the same problem in Lion since Lion was released. On the mac I can see but can't hear voice from the iPhone facetime caller. The caller can hear & see me.

gammapoint, I think you are having a different problem than most people are complaining about in this thread. The issue here is on the iphone side they cannot hear audio from tne Mac side. The root cause is probably on the Mac side. While in your case the problem is probably on the iPhone side.

I don't think the problem is in the iPhone it's in the Mac OSX, in my case Lion.

When two iPhones are conencted via Facetime this problem is not seen. The voice fades only when a Mac is invlolved.

So I believe I am facing the same issue, on the Mac side.

I have it on 2 imacs and 2 macbooks with Lion. Doesnt make any difference. Sorry

Well, I guess there goes that fix out the window. I was about to install Lion on my macbook pro, Mac OS X 10.6.8 - as I am so frustrated with this problem. Seems from several recent commenters, (thank you all) I don't need to go that route? Hopefully one day we will learn what the real fix is for this issue. jimmieanna

OMG Have the same problem and read the whole discussion there is no solution for the problem. What da **** Apple, why no reply? Please fix the problem, you guys only focus on sale but not after service?? Bummer

I noticed that on the feedback page www.apple.com/feedback there are many IOS apps listed. But FaceTIme isn't one of them.

Have there been any recent updates from the two users in direct contact with senior techs?

We experience this with three different macs in our household.

ginginca,I haven't heard anything new from the tech I was working with.

I am using an IMac OS X 10.6.8. FaceTime worked fine for a few months, and then just today the sound cut out mid session, and is not back yet. I shut down and restared -- nothing. I'll be watching this post for a fix. Thank you.

I've a similar problem with Facetime. Seems to work on my MacBook Pro 15" and my iMac 27"; however, doesn't work on wife's MacBookPro 17". All running 10.6.8 with all software upgraded. Hopefully, a solution will be found soon.

I have a Mac Mini running Lion, latest version. I bought it in January '12. I tried to use Facetime to talk with my sister on her iPad2 / iPhone4, but she could never hear what I was saying. Today I might have figured out my problem. I had System Preferences>Sound>Input screen open at the same time I made the call on Facetime. Before I started Facetime, I'm quite sure I had the input volume at about 22% (I was trying to do some of the troubleshooting mentioned earlier in this post). Then, for some reason, it appears that Facetime set the Input Volume to zero. So I turned it up mid-call and she heard me just fine, for the first time since I got the Mac Mini.

So for anyone out there that is having trouble not being heard at all, check the System Preferences>Sound>Input>Input Volume DURING the call, because it seems to change from what is set, for me anyway.

Got the same problem! Anywhere between 5 and 10 min of the call the sound drops, I can hear them but they no longer can hear me. It works again after reinstalling the program but then again after 10 min the problem reappears. HELP! Have no WiFi here to FaceTime with my iPhone and the internet connection is too crappy for Skype videocalls (FaceTime is no problem though, the first 10 min)(am in Australia for 5 months).
