no TV out in iOS 5?

I work at night. I own an iPhone 3G S. I connect my iPhone to my portable tv and watch movies and YouTube videos to pass the time. Well, up until iOS 5 that is. I did the update like everyone else. Fooled around with the new features and even signed up for iCloud. But when it came time to watch a video, through YouTube or Photos or the new Video app, nothing happened. It wouldn't play on my tv. I went to the settings and found the tv out setting missing. Is there a way I can go back to iOS 4.x? And where do I go to let Apple know my disappointment?

I have the same issue with my 1st gen iPad there is no TV out listing in settings with the cable in or out.

It worked fine until I upgraded to IOs5 I now only get volume and no picture.

Yes I've come to the conclusion that this is a bug that was introduced in the iOS 5 GM. I have tried it on 4 different iPad 2's, and an iPhone 4S, and the same thing happens. Oh well – we'll have to sit tight till iOS 5.0.1

So am I correct in understanding that the TV Out option is only available on the iPad (with cable plugged in) but not the iPhone?

My iPod touch gen3 has the option when the cable is plugged in. I'd upload an image but seems I can't from my Touch

I use Apple Digital AV Adapter and I don't see any TV Out option under Settings / General, even if I connect the cable. Does it have to be a composite cable to get TV Out setting?

Perhaps the cable is faulty?

I have only had a composite cable so I can't say for sure. However, I'd expect the setting to appear regardless of the type of connection.

I doubt it. The setting has appeared on other devices I've tried.

I'm using a first generation iPad, the Apple composite AV cable, and iOS5 (never tried it with previous iOS releases). Thanks to the posts on this forum, I have found TV Out in Settings, but I'm still just getting audio and not video. Have tried a couple different TVs and an AVR receiver, same results everywhere. Has Apple acknowledged this is an iOS5 bug? From posts on this forum it sounds like it works for some people.

I am a bit different then everyone here. I have found the TV Out options when my iPhone 4/iPad 2 are connected to different devices. I use my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 as displays in my cars. I connect them to the headunit for audio and video is displayed locally on the iDevice. This worked well until I updated to iOS5. Now when I connect my devices it does not show the video locally and it outputting to the cable. How do I turn that OFF?

I was able to view the "tv out" in settings with the cable plugged in. BUT........it won't let me watch Netflix ot uverse, just movies in my video folder, and my videos from my cam. Anyone else have this issue?

I have an iPhone 3Gs running iOS 5 and am having the same problem playing Netflix on my TV (YouTube and videos made on the phone play ok). I can get audio but no video. My son has an iPod touch running OS 4.3.5 and the identical version of Netflix and he can play Netflix with no problem, both video and audio. I've been able to access 'TV Out' with the cable plugged in, and have made sure all the settings are correct. I've tried many times to get a picture but to no avail, so I'm convinced there's got to be a bug. Any suggestions?
