Siri- cannot connect to the network?

Anyone else having this issue?

My network is fine. I have 2 new 4s and one works with siri, the other keeps telling me it's having network issues.

Ditto... cannot connect to network has plagued me several times this weekend, including right now.

None of the 'fixes' work -- resetting network, turning Siri on/off, indicating yourself as the contact, etc... those that got good results from those efforts mistakenly think this will work for everyone, it seems.

The only thing that works is waiting!

I've noticed that most of the times I've had trouble with connecting Siri is during peak internet hours. I feel we'll soon here from Apple through a press release that the Siri network has been overloaded and that they're working on a fix.

You would think that Apple would have Siri prompt the user with "Sorry, Siri servers are down for maintenance, please try again later", instead of "Sorry, I am having trouble connecting to the network". This generic error message leads to wasted time by the end user troubleshooting their network connections. Come on Apple, get it together...

Well, Apple is not *as* bad as Google is about releasing half-baked software, but we all know it happens. Siri's connectivity issues will probably be resolved in a few days, with an announcement about it. Siri is clearly just what they call it, a 'beta' version... but (when working) is reasonably good for a first go, though many features are missing from Siri's capabilities at this time.

Reminds me of stupid stuff like 'why does the built-in alarm clock app not allow you to create a custom snooze time like all other clock apps do?' If it wasn't for the overall good effort made by Apple in building products that are just plain better than the competitors, I'd be screaming a lot louder about weird stupid stuff that's missing from Apple products.

Do you realize the ramifications of this? I was in my car, expecting to use the "Call person name, mobile" command and I could no longer do handsfree dialing. It said the "network was unavailable".

Siri now apparently requires network connectivity to do basic voice commands. It also requires Siri's servers to stay online 100% of the time.

This is going to cause atleast a few car crashes due to this loss of capability. I want my old handsfree dialing back so I can keep my eyes on the road!

Apple really messed up here. It should revert back to the old voice control engine in the event that SIRI is down.

I resolved this issue in another way. I tried all the resetting that was suggested. To no avail. What I found was that my iPhone 4S was giving low memory warnings. During my Siri adventure, the phone went into the "deep sleep" phase that requires both buttons to be held down to get it to come back up. I checked under Settings/General/About/Diagnostics & Usage/Disagnostic and Usage Data and noticed LowMemory warnings when my Siri connection issues started.

Then I double clicked the home button to see what was running. I had about 15 - 20 apps running. Shut all those down and then tried Siri again. It worked, I could connect over 3G with 2 bars.

Give that a shot and maybe Apple should put a warning if you try to run Siri and there isn't enough memory. Seems that some apps have that warning in them already.

The bottom line is the service is simply overloaded, and will be for awhile as new iPhones trickle out. Keep in mind the following:

  1. The service is brand spanking new
  2. This is the best selling iPhone in Apple's history, so there are millions of people playing with Siri
  3. There are millions of people still asking Siri irrelevant, silly questions - once that is out of everyone's system, Siri will experience far less usage
  4. Again, the service is brand spanking new... there will be bugs for awhile

You can try a bunch of "fixes", but chances are, the service just came back online for you while you were doing whatever you were doing. In the last 2 days since I first had trouble with Siri, it has gone down and back up again with just minutes passing and me doing nothing but being patient.

Try being patient. It works.

So I ve tried everything here - turning off Siri / reset network / nothing worked. But my wife's works just fine.

And I don't this it's server issues - because my didn't. Of work for 1 full day I kept trying the reset, no luck.

So today I thought about at what point did it stop working ?

It was after doing a update All - and I had 59 aPps there were not up to date.

One issue was that I restored from a backup from iTunes of my old iPhone 4, so lots of apps !

I checked for memory - I had 10 gb free so it wasn't that !

Then I made sure iCloud has my data backed uP- check in settings ICloud > backups

So then I did a full reset under setting - this will erase everything and restore from back up - took about 12 mins - not too bad at all !

And after it restore it started downloading all the apps - while It was doing that Siri works fine - I deleted google voice and google app before the downlOads could finish just because I thought those apps might be conflicting as google app had the same raise to ear to speak option.

Any how it works And I'm happy now!

Also I got a MSG stating not all apps could be restore as some no longer exists on the app store ( maybe those were messig with Siri? Who knows , all I know it Siri is back in my life - and She remembers me And my relationships ( who my wife is , etc. but that iClound + contacts .

Good luck , all.

This should be the LAST resort if you are desperate for Siri.
