Siri is not working AT ALL on new iphone 4s. Anyone else having trouble?

iPhone 4s arrived by mail today. Turned on Siri via Settings/General. Asking REALLY simple questions like "What is the weather?" and Siri has not responded ONCE with an answer other than:

"What was that again?"

"Sorry, something's gone wrong. Can you try that agan?"

"Sorry, I didn't get that."

"Uh oh. Something's wrong. Can you try again?"

SO frustrating and disappointing. The microphone doesn't seem like the problem, as it is able to record audio elsewhere.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue with Siri?

Got my phone on 10/14 & Siri worked perfectly until about 30 minutes ago. I tried the reboot process discussed above.

1) disable Siri

2) shut down phone

3) turn on phone

4) enable Siri

Now it is working perfectly again, just make sure you wait for it to reestablish itself.

I to,d Siri I loved her and she said "I am here to serve you" and she has... Good luck with all yours

Siri has been working like a charm for me since day one (got mine on 10/14 as well) with two exceptions, for windows of time lasting about an hour or two. Both times (the first one, last Monday, and now, for the last bit) when I searched the web I found a whole slew of people having issues the same time as me. This is purely a server issue and nothing to do with your phone. Resetting helps, though in my case it's still touch and go. I'm just gonna wait it out while Apple sorts out the server issues, reset when things don't work, and just be grateful for the other 98% of the time Siri's worked flawlessly so far.

This is definitely a problem with Apple servers. Siri was working perfectly on my unit for about a week, then it started returning "having problems to connect". After resetting Siri several times it still doesn't work right. It takes very long to translate my voice to text, and then even longer to actually respond. Seems like very poor planning from Apple in terms of server capacity. Otherwise we have a SW bug that renders the service useless when there is high Nwk traffic.. The worst part is Apple's silence. It's clear they know about this issue, and they must have people working on this. But why not acknowledging the problem publicly???. Let your loyal customers what the problem is and what are you doing to address it. Show a little respect please....

Exactly the same here. My wife and I have identical phones on the same wireless network. All of a sudden Siri worked like a charm on hers and not at all on mine. Nothing worked until I cleared out all the background apps like you suggested and restarted my phone. Siri was back.

Thanks for that suggestion. I've used it to solve problems before but didn't think of it for this one. I think this may be a combination of beta software, server issues and limited resources on the phones after a while.

Other than for a few hours on Monday, Siri has worked well for me. That is yesterday. It went down some time during the day and has been giving me a cant connect to the network error ever since. I've tried turning Siri off and on, restarting the phone, resetting the phone, nothing works. Siri still says there's no network connection over both wifi and 3G. Something is very wrong.

Fix Siri!

Want to fix Siri? Business Insider says it has a simple solution for making Siri work:

  1. Turn Siri off (Settings > General > Siri)
  2. Reset the network settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings)
  3. Turn Siri on again

Business Insider reports that this simple process should fix your Siri connectivity problem. If it doesn't, try again.

It's been interesting to observe folks with good intentions declare confidently that THIS (or THAT) will solve the Siri connection problem. Sadly, this is one of the original proposed solutions from 2 weeks ago, and it isn't a silver bullet, as many have found. The issues with Siri are more complex than that, as it appears... read the many other discussion threads on this subject to see.

In this case, Business Insider is just quoting another source and have no more knowledge of how to solve the Siri problem than anyone else. Of course, this is one of the problems with journalism these days... someone shouts fire and the echo chamber begins its drum beat.

It's time for Apple to step up to the plate and clue everyone in on what the story is.
