Siri is not working AT ALL on new iphone 4s. Anyone else having trouble?

iPhone 4s arrived by mail today. Turned on Siri via Settings/General. Asking REALLY simple questions like "What is the weather?" and Siri has not responded ONCE with an answer other than:

"What was that again?"

"Sorry, something's gone wrong. Can you try that agan?"

"Sorry, I didn't get that."

"Uh oh. Something's wrong. Can you try again?"

SO frustrating and disappointing. The microphone doesn't seem like the problem, as it is able to record audio elsewhere.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue with Siri?

Im not even sure how you are using SIRI on an iphone 4. Anyway as i said SIRI is on BETA at the moment so sometimes it will work fine and sometimes it will not+

I'm not sure why you think I've got a 4 rather than a 4S, but just to be clear--It's a 4S.

Yes, I'm aware that it's a beta. Just because it's a beta doesn't mean that there can't be some problem with my particular phone and I'd like to find out whether it's specific to me or a more general problem. Do you have a 4S? Has Siri been working on yours for the last 24 hours?

Today my Siri is working just fine. I did nothing special, performed no secret rituals, pressed no special sequence of keys, nor anything else other than waking up and trying Siri to see if it was now working, and it was.

So I believe this stands for the proposition that on my particular phone, Siri may fail due to matters external to the phone or those which require no actions on my part other than waiting for it to begin working again.

YMMV.

Siri has been basically useless for me for the last couple months. Worked pretty well in the interval right after I got the phone, then just kind of gradually got worse in the last couple months. Fails maybe 2/3 of the time now, and something that unreliable is useless. And useless is not cool.

I really think Apple is coasting on its reputation sometimes.... often.....

FWIW, I hear this a lot from other 4S owners I know, too. Siri is kind of a running joke right now.

UPDATE: I turned off Siri (in Settings) and rebooted my phone (turned it off by holding down the power button and sliding the slider, waiting a few seconds, then pressing the power button again), and then turned Siri back on, as per a recommendation I read in another thread on this issue, and it has helped tremendously. (I was not optimistic, since I had tried this before with less success.)

I will talk to my friends who have had issues, and see if it works for them as well.

Sorry Ron. Gave the reset-all-settings a go, result: No Improvement.

I've had sporadic issues up to today around noon, but now- either 3G or wifi, siri is still failing to connect.

I would think this would be a trending topic somewhere, or even a tremendously hot blog topic moving around the interwebs.

I'll keep looking and report anything new.

I'm also having issues with Siri. It worked great for five days then it stopped. I tried the disabling, power down, power up, and enabling thing and it worked great for 12 hours. Then it stopped again. I tried the disabling, power down, power up, and enabling thing again and nothing. Now, as with Finnmeister, the dictation to text doesn't even work. I waited for years to get this phone and I got the 4s because of Siri. Sad to see years of wait turning into a bad experience.

I am trying this procedure now (turn off, restart, turn on.)

In the last two months, or so, SIRI has become largely useless to me, I don't even miss it. I did use it a bunch in the first two months I owned the iPhone 4S (got it on opening day) and it worked well, then it just got, ah, "tired" and over time I lost interest.

I do note that it was implemented badly, in that it entirely replaces the MUCH faster built in voice recognition. I can say to siri 'play track x' and it takes 30 seconds to do it, but if I turn siri off, the iphone built in will do it in 1 second. I wish that apple had integrated the two to take advantage of local processing when at all possible!

Anyway, SIRI was cute, now it's useless.

This worked great. Thanks Hannahat!

Finally got it to work, and it's working wonderfully now that it does!! Here's what I did (basically just reset it):

1. Disable Siri under Settings/General

2. Turn phone off completely

3. Turn phone back on

4. Enable Siri under Settings/General

Hope it works for you all, too.

Yes Thanks! Now on to the other problems.

I don't know what is going on with Siri. I cannot put this thing to work on my 4s. I've tried everything said in this forum, but nothing. After pressing the home button and Siri beeps twice I ask simple things like "what time is it" or "what's the weater like for today".... it takes almost 30 seconds with the light circle arround the microphone icon, and then the voice continues to answer me the same: "Sorry about this, I can't take any request right now, please try again in a little while".

Of course I'm online using wifi.

Siri is not working AT ALL on new iphone 4s. Anyone else having trouble?
