iPhone 4S camera not working ("Shutter" remains closed in app)

Just got my camera working after turning the restrictions enabled, turned camera off, turned phone off, turned phone on and then camera restrictions turned camera back on and it worked!!! Boooommm. Thank you

I'm having a problem with the back camera of my iPhone 4s. It turns black as soon as it comes on. The front camera only works. How can I fix this problem?

I've seen so many posts about this, Apple "geniuses' say the front camera is broken and needs to be replaced.

However, after a recent jailbreak, I installed a cache cleaning program, ran it...

Hi there, after being told by geniuses that the camera was broken, I jailbroke the phone on the recent ios break and used iCleaner Pro and Cleaner.

However, I would say the bug in the ios seems to mean that whenever caches are rewritten, the front facing camera on the iphone 4S ceases to work.

I just tested front camera now and it works! (But that's no guarantee it'll work later!) Enclosed pic is my mugshot!

after restore several times, the way to retrieve the camera was hitting the camera in the palm of my hand. now works perfectly.😎🙂

My camera stopped last night. I have done everything I could find on how to fix it & nothing. I never got the apple care plan when I got my phone 2 years ago. I called Apple & they want me $19.95 to speak to someone. I was going to hold out to get a new phone when the 6 comes out. However, if this is the way they are going to treat the customers who buy & promote Apple products...FORGET it. If anyone can offer up any other way to fix my phone before Monday please let me know.

I have a 4s that also suddenly had problems with the camera. I encountered a black image on initial startup of the camera app. I tried a number of solutions on this forum with no success. What did finally fix my problem was kind of strange. The solution was simple. First I turned on the flashlight by activating it from the quick menu. While the flashlight was still on I activated the camera also from the quick menu. The flashlight turned off and the camera suddenly began working correctly. Don't ask me why. I just hope this saves some people some time and money.
