Siri- "Sorry, I am having trouble connecting to the network".

When using siri I get the error message, "Sorry, I am having trouble connecting to the network". I have spoken to a few others who receivec the 4s today who are getting the same error message. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Its not down for maintenace, its just straight up broken..."maintenance" is something you schedule weeks ahead of time, and at a time of day when everyone isn't using it (late at night)...

When something gets shut down miday and only 3 days from release, its cause its straight up broken and they are fixing it...its not maintenance.

and the fact that they don't know when, means its def not maintenance, because they test maintenance on a parallel copy before applying it live.

I was having the very same connection issues this morning at work. Didn't make for an impressive demonstrationof Siri when she couldn't find any connection even THOUGH I had Wifi connection to the internet.

A google search turned up the solution:

1. Disable Siri via Settings/General/Siri - OFF

2. Reset factory network settings via Settings/Reset/Reset Network Settings.

That will force your iPhone to reboot.

When it comes back up, Reverse Step 1 above to restart Siri and then join your network as you normally would....and presto, Siri springs back to life.

Also please add me to the list.. When Siri works, which she has, she works wonderfully.

But Since Friday afternoon when I purchased my phone, its been touch and go. I got the 32gb Iphone 4S through Verizon. Same issues as everyone else. I've reset the network, turned Siri on and off. If a phone call or text message comes through, she starts going wonky. I understand beta testing. I know that the Apple servers are getting slammed, but I really hope they get this all up and running smoothly, eventually.

It worries me that this will be hardware related. I am enjoying the faster phone, but hope Siri improves.

Guys it's not the network - mine didn't work for a full day- while my wife's worked just fine.

It's softwAre - its a bit buggy.

Here's what I did to get it to work- after all the resetting and rebooting of the networks didn't resolve my issues

Sorry - in typing on my iPhone - since wife is asleep I won't dictate w Siri.

So I ve tried everything here - turning off Siri / reset network / nothing worked. But my wife's works just fine.

And I don't that it's server issues - because my didn't work for 1 full day I kept trying the reset, no luck.

So today I thought about at what point did it stop working ?

It was after doing an update All (app store) - and I had 59 aPps there were not up to date.

I restored from a backup from iTunes of my old iPhone 4 when I got my iPhone 4s, so lots of apps !

I checked for memory - I had 10 gb free so it wasn't that !

Then I made sure iCloud has my data backed uP- check in settings ICloud > backups

So then I did a full reset under setting - this will erase everything and restore from back up - took about 12 mins - not too bad at all !

And after it restore it started downloading all the apps - while It was doing that Siri works fine - I deleted google voice and google app before the downlOads could finish just because I thought those apps might be conflicting as google app had the same raise to ear to speak option.

Any how it works And I'm happy now!

Also I got a MSG stating not all apps could be restore as some no longer exists on the app store ( maybe those were messig with Siri? Who knows , all I know it Siri is back in my life - and She remembers me And my relationships ( who my wife is , etc. but that iClound + contacts .

Good luck , all.

This should be the LAST resort if you are desperate for Siri.

I am having same issue, trouble connecting with Siri, just called in to Apple Support and they told me Apple is aware of issues with Siri, it is a problem with their servers and they are working on it. He said it should be fixed in a few days. He said it is so new for them that they havent been able to work out this issue yet. he said to turn phone on/off each day to see if issue is resolved.

I tried everything I could think of (rebooting phone, my wifi network, trying a different wifi network, etc...) before following the suggestion of resetting factory network settings as suggested in an earlier post and that finally worked, although Siri seemed slower than it had been previously. Could it be that as the population of 4s' increases and more and more people are "showing off" Siri's capabilities (a recurring theme in these and other posts) that Apple's servers are overwhelmed (as I understand it, your phone records and forwards your voice, Apple's servers do the rest)? The good news is, that if this is indeed the case, Apple will be able to scale the service to meet demand.
