Series episode is not available on Apple TV

First I have the latest 2nd generation Apple TV with the latest software.

I bought a season several weeks ago and today got an email at 6:57 AM saying the latest show was available.

At 8:45 PM it was not in my Purchased TV folder. I checked for updated Apple TV software and installed the latest update. Still not in my folder. I removed and re-added my iTunes password. Still not available.

Earlier today iTunes on my PC was updated. (I have never watched a TV show in my Apple TV from my computer over the via iTunes.) When I opened the updated iTunes it started downloading 3 episodes of the series: the latest in HD and SD and the previous episode.

After the HD episode was downloaded on my computer it appeared in my Apple TV's computer TV show folder along with two prior episodes. The first episode did not appear and was apparently never download when I purchased the season.

After all this the current episode plays ONLY from my Apple TV computer TV folder, not my Purchased folder. It appears in my Favorites and will let me buy it for $ 2.99 even after I've already bought the entire season.

The email from 6:57 AM told me

"If you purchased your Season Pass on Apple TV you will automatically receive new episodes if your iTunes Store password has been saved. To manually check for new episodes, select Settings from the main menu, then select Downloads, and Check for Downloads."

but my Apple TV before and after the latest software update had no Downloads folder in the Settings menu. One other menu had a Rentals folder but there are no rentals anymore.

What the heck is going on? I don't have these problems with Amazon.com purchases on my Roku. What I buy is available immediatly and it doesn't try to let me re-buy seasons I've already purchased.

Very, very frustrated with Apple TV seasons purchases!

AppleTV 2, Windows Vista, Latest software updates applied

So it continues to get worse. Got two email notifications this morning of new episodes for American Horror Story and Revenge. Here's a shocker, they're nowhere to be found! Not in my available downloads on my Mac and not in the Purchased Section (iTunes In The Cloud) on any one of my devices. I know I should send what will be my 33rd and 34th email to iTunes Support this week but knowing the ascinine responses I'm going to get I'm finding I lack the energy and patience anymore.

Well, My call to apple.com yesterday bared only little fruit (no pun intended) ... They had emailed me that they had "pushed" new downloads for me... per the email sent to me...

understand that you did not receive the complete episodes of "Sanctuary, Season 4". I regret for the inconvenience caused. I can surely help you with this issue.

Curt, I am happy to inform you that I have posted the missing episodes to your account "xxxxxx" Please follow these steps to download the episodes:

However, I discovered that iTunes was able to download the episodes (after "check for available downloads", apparently they pushed to me the HD and SD version) ... the problem is, these episodes still do not show up in my list of purchased episodes. And in turn are not directly available on the Apple TV. I think this is no more than a band-aid. Because I believe something is broken on their video delivery side. so, under this fix, I would have to contact apple every week to push to me the next available episode for a season pass I ordered... yet that doesn't address the issue that they do not show up on Apple TV.

We need to keep hammering their support, and keep this post active (even if it is only group therapy! 🙂 ) maybe we can actually get apple to fix this issue!

I sent an email to Engadget, giving them details and a link to this forum. I thought maybe if somebody did a story or a blog entry on this it might help Apple get some traction on a solution.

Like you guys my Apple TV purchases are on hold until this can get fixed. Or else I'm going to have to go back to the old school method of downloading on my Mac first and then streaming them.

You might want to shoot an email or make a contact to see if we can get someone to cover this phenomenon.

Just because we've gotten a couple messages in here saying that Apple is working on this don't stop bombarding them with emails. I know I've wasted several hours this week typing them up, getting inept responese, then re-clarifying only to experience more ineptness but we have to keep overwhelming them with complaints of the same exact nature. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

The Techs that i am dealing with still have yet to accept the fact that stuff is broken and keep going with the scripted answers. They just resotred all my purchases which makes for a lot of downloads.

I emailed them back stateing "I really wish you would read what i am writing in these emails since i am taking the time out of my day to write it and attempt to be detailed about the issue. But since you or your fellow techs don't here are some screeen shots maybe images might be able to explain what i am having issues with better than a paragraph of information.

(I attached screenshots from the iPad2, iTunes, and Pictures of my AppleTV where the Shows should be.)"

Hopefully this will get my techs to realize that the problem is with the cloud and not my account...

Apple TV (2nd gen). Bought a season pass for The Walking Dead. Got email saying first episode of season is available. It is downloadable on my Mac, no problem. Does NOT show under the Purchased area of Apple TV.

Just for grins, I went to try to purchase the episode on the Apple TV and it warned me that I had already purchased it! So it knows I own it, it just isn't visible for me to watch.

In the end, I AirPlayed it from my Mac to Apple TV and watched it that way.

Please fix. I subscribe to several shows and I don't want to have to watch them this way.

@Jeremy, Sounds like the exact thing I'm experiencing. I also went the screenshot route but the rep dismissed my problem as being a show that was modified or pulled from iTunes, which of course it was not and he didn't even bother to check. I was also re-issued a ton of downloads (96 to be exact) and not one is a show that I'm missing. Now I have to download all this crap because we can't remove things from the queue ourselves and my request for customer service to remove them has apparently fallen on deaf ears.

I have the same issue as everyone else, but there's a slight twist I've noticed. When I purchase episodes of Scooby Do for my kids, those DO show up in my purchases. No other shows do (Californication, Prime Suspect, etc.). So why does that show make it to my Purchased list? Also, I was wondering if anyone has tried to purchase TV shows from their computer. Do those show up in the Purchased menu on the ATV2?

Well, apparently Apple is a little aware... My latest response to my latest email support request...

I would like to mention also that I have been made aware that Apple is currently working toward a resolution for this issue. I will be keeping your request and I will get back to you once I receive an update and further information is available.

However, I agree with the previous posts... It is important that we keep calling and emailing support requests until they resolve this issue...
