"Waiting for Activation" iMessage and Facetime on brand new iPhone 4s

How did you make it work? I have done everything suggested and it is still not working, quite annoying and a huge waste of time!

I just went through the same issue and still am not quite sure which solution worked, but I do know that when I went to my Apple ID on the apple site, my mobile phone number was not listed in my contacts, so I added it. I previously had also requested T-Mobile to allow me to receive multimedia messages, which I was not getting because of pre-paid plan. Not sure which was the solution, but it now works. good luck
