Installed IOS 5, bye-bye Gmail "push"...

Hi all,

I'm experiencing an issue with my recently IOS 5 upgrade. Since I did it yesterday my Gmail account (exchange mode) has suddenly stopped "pushing" my emails. I have tried everything, deleted the account and recreated it from zero but it didn't make any difference. The strange thing is that having an Ipad 2 with IOS 5 installed on it the push works perfectly for that same Gmail account. Any ideas?

By the way, I have another exchange email account installed on the iphone and "push" works fine for that account, so it is just the Gmail not working.

Thanks.

Update to my own post:

I did the two-button reset and it worked fine for a day or so, then reverted back to not picking up mail without hitting the refresh button. I did the network reset (didn't help), and then finally I completely removed and re-installed the Gmail (Exchange) account... and now it works fine again.

I'll keep an eye on it over the weekend and will report back here if it starts acting up again...

I solved the problem concerning gmail-push by doing this:

- deactivation of iCloud (removed the account completely)

- deleted all existing email accounts

- Gmail configuration as Exchange account again (as mentioned above)

- since this time Push Service are working properly again on iPhone 4S with iOS 5

I guess iCloud AND Gmail Push are not working together at the same time even if you just use Fotostream or "Search for my iPhone".

My other Problems with iOS5 are: 3G cant be de-activated any more in iP4S, 3G is working not consistend (it takes a long time before safari reacts, than its fast) - This Problem is the same with 3 SIM-cards on 3 devices (all unfortunately with iOS5). Last but not least the Accu is loosing 2% per hour in stand by mode - thats too much. I guess I have to send back iP4S on monday. I love Apple. But I am used to Google Service and might switch to Android 4 even if I bought so many Apps for iOS. I am really disappointed.

Well, it looks like my "Network Settings" reset worked for only a couple of weeks. Yesterday it started not to push again... Reading this last post it looks like it might be related with iCloud compatibility issues. Anyway, as I wanted to keep the "find my phone" function I did the two button reset and it is working again (no need to do anything else), let's see for how long this time....

I think it is time for Apple to come up with a permanent solution....

Also very disappointed. I have my gmail account set up to forward to iCloud which in turn should the. Push to my Mac and iPhone 4. It reaches my Mac no problem but the iPhone about a quarter of the time and almost never if it is plugged in and charging. With the old iOS and mobile me set up the same way I'd receive mail on my phone seconds before I'd hear the notification on my Mac. Have tried all the possibilities deceived here and still no luck. No rules set up resetting accounts deleting accounts resetting the phone. Am very frustrated we shouldn't have to go through all of this to solve a problem on the latest and greatest issuings from apple. Yes some of the new features are great but the step forward has IMO been a step back with this issue. It wasn't broke and now it is.
